Hi all - just a quick tactical question I'd like a bit of advice on. So I've been running a few 500 games as CSM against my friend who plays Tyranids. Up till now they have been fairly close but the game the other day saw him use the Doom of Malan'tai for the firat time! I'm sure I dont need to tell you how nasty this guy is - in fact on arrival he wiped out my Havocs which also meant id lost my long range heavy weapons for the game.
Can anyone give any advice as to how to counter this model? At 500 points I havent got a lot of options open to me and would like to be able to give him a harder time when he next emerges from his Mycetic Spore :-)
Protect those Havocs as funnily enough those are the best thing to take him out due to him being only T4 (assuming they have some S8 weaponry). Bubble wrap with whatever so the Doom can't drop close enough to them.
Forgefiends might work if you keep them away from the squishy biomass that powers up the dooms attack.
If any of it's hades shells get through the Doom is toast.

Cheers for the advice - being a new player I hadn't taken into consideration placement of my Havocs to reduce where the Doom could land next to them! I had 4 ACs on them so none of their weapons would have caused ID - not a mistake I will make again
