Lately I've been thinking about grabbing a bunch of ancient Persians from wargames factory to add some "primitive world" squads to my army. The one thing that's holding me up is the lack of a suitable lasgun model to equip large numbers of infantry with. I've got a few lying around on sprues, but not nearly enough for what I have in mind. Has anyone here done anything similar, or have any good suggestions?

Maybe use a few of those: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/products/arms-1?pagesize=12

Or if you only need weapons: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=108_109
But anvil industry also makes matching arms: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=108_111&product_id=301

Hasslefree Miniatures have a good selection of SF type weaponry.

Yes but hasslefree is more on the realistic side of model scale. So all their weapons will probably be too and would look small compared to GW weapons.
But you might need a second opinion on that as i only have a few machine pistols from them and none of the larger rifles.

Hasslefree's stuff is brilliant. The CAD guns range has a variety of styles all of which go well with Guardsmen. Yes they are a bit smaller than lasguns, but then lasguns are ridiculously large for personal weapons.

Cad guns 1 and 2

And one of the larger SAW guns as hot shots on my stormies

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Could anyone suggest drum magazine conversions for IG lasguns? I was looking at MG 34/42 drums, but 1/48 is too small. I don't want to get burned again buying something that doesn't work--I need about 40 drum magazines for an army customization I'm doing.

Not sold separately, but the Eisenkern stormtrooper rifles look good.

curious constructs makes good stuff. I've used a bunch of them before

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

It would be easy to cut up plastic rod to the required dimensions, and put a strip of 0.25mm plastic card round it to cover the join and add some surface detail.
