So with this bit of news

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/543907.page

It seems now is the time for us to throw out our completely false and made up Space Marine rumors!

1. The Tac Squad box will be repacked with 5 marines per box, price will stay the same. No wait that's probably going to happen...
2. In keeping with GW's nostalgia for Rogue Trader Space Marines will be re-stated with T3 and 4+ saves.
3. The codex will shy away from over-exposed chapters and instead focus on the Angry Bald Men, the Disgruntled Postal Workers, the Emperor's Spoons and the Rainbow Warriors.
4. The missing primarchs will be reviled! Mat Ward and Tom Kirby!
5. Rhinos are out of the codex and replaced with a new APC called the Iron Boar. The Iron Boar has the same stats and points as the Rhino but looks completely different. You must buy WYSIWYG Iron Boars!

6. Black Templars get preferred enemy: psychers and must roll a 5+ on a 1d6 at the start of each shooting phase or attack any ally unit within 12" that has a psycher in its list.
7. Crimson fists must roll a 3+ on a 1d6 each round when fighting orks or lose 1/2 of every model in each unit when their fortress monastery takes a direct hit from a "friendly fire" incident with an anti-space ship missile.

9. Space Marines will get Knights, and they will be Monstrous Creatures even though they should be Walkers. Following with the usual trend, they will cost under 200 points, get 12 inch movement for free, have 6 wounds at Toughness 7 and a 2+ save with a 4++ invuln.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

1. The Space Marine Codex will have special rules for specific Vanilla Chapters including Crimson Fists, Scythes of the emperor which will work with low model counts and lots of assault marines and 5 man groups of tact marines getting huge boosts to make up for low model count.

2. Three new Vanilla Marine Vehicles are going to be made.

3. Space marine codex will have options to take special options and bonuses when you pair them with Imperial Guard

4. A dreadnaught drop pod

5. Tact Marines are cheaper and have a new CC weapon choice and a option to take Plasma Pistols for 5 points per model.

Was "reviled" instead of "revealed" deliberate? I feel like it should be both.

Anyway, getting the numbering back on track:
18) New chapter in the fluff - Vanilla Marines! Creamy yellow in colour, led by Chapter Master Neo P'olitan. Also revealed are the Generic Marines, the Codex Marines and the Standard Marines, just to mess with the people of the Internet.
19) Tigurius now has access to all Tyranid psychic powers.
20) All Blood Angel and Space Wolf units now cost 5 points over their Codex entries, for "rebalancing" purposes.

Each of the different Chapters featured in the new codex will have a different FOC, while some will have different squad sizes/composition not just a special character each.

The new knight model will not look worse than the Dred Nappy, it will in fact look like a contemptor.

The new Whirlwind variants will not just be Rhinos with a different top.

Each of the limited edition codexes will have unique fluff for that chapter.

It will have a new Imperial Fists focus, and introduce a new character 'Pugnus Fistborn'. He will be riding his Jetbike/Powerfist hybrid, which is used for ramming enemy vehicles (gains Armourbane when ramming).

He is armed with two powerfists, and his shooting attack is a 'rocket punch' where he can fire one of his power fists 12".

He wears Mk4 armour.

Ok, got it:

28) "Thunderstrike" - once per game, Chapter Master Whatshisfacehammersguy may raise both hammers to the sky and channel the lightning itself to smite his foes, all Thor style and stuff. This counts as the following modified orbital bombardment:

31: Boltguns will now be AP: 3 Rending in order to make Eldar players feel less superior.

32: Astartes Pattern Lascannon: S: 9 AP: 2 Instant Death Ignores all saves Twin Linked. Can be taken by devastator squads in groups of 4. Again, in order to make Eldar players feel less superior.

33: Astartes pattern Flash Bang grenades: Units being charged cannot overwatch in order to make Tau players cry.

34. Veteran Vanguard marines will now get 15 attacks on the charge and instant death.

35. Tactical Squads may replace their boltguns with storm bolters for free.

36. Reinforced Hulls: All attacks may only ever roll one die for armor penetration per attack. Can be taken by every space marine vehicle for 5 points, including drop pods.

37: Captain Indrick Boreale. Normal stat line for Space Marine captain and point costs but grants the "Chapter Relics" stratagem. At the start of every turn you may steal one model from your opponent in order to claim it as a chapter relic. You can either take it out of play or use it yourself.

You know what's funny? Back a couple years ago when I sat down and wrote about 2/3rds of a D.I.Y. SM codex, I created a unit called M.A.S.T.S., Mobile Assault Strategic and Tactical Suit, which were basically a cross between a Dreadnought and a Terminator.

I actually discarded the idea after a while because I couldn't get them to work quite the way I wanted them too.

Basically, they would have been closer to a MC statline (probably S6 T6, can't quite remember bc I tossed the unfinished rules), 2 wounds each, starting with a PF and heavy bolter and having lots of options for upgrading. They would have been unable to fit in transports (except Stormraven), but would have had deep striking ability and the ability to buy single use cover items (some sort of flashbang or something) that would protect them from excessively shooty armies the turn they dropped. They would have been able to be taken in squads of up to either 3 or 5 (I can't quite remember).

Anyways, I tinkered with them for a long time, and eventually discarded them in favor of "Lightning Dreadnoughts," which was a HS variant of Dreadnoughts that had no CC weapons, only ranged weapons for arms, but also had access to special shoulder mounted weapons, and made the CC component of M.A.S.T.S. into Paladin expys.

So yeah, the whole rumors of a weapon somewhere between a Dreadnought and a Terminator were something I remember tinkering with, and it will be very interesting to see how GW handled it.

Also, I made a vehicle called the Tempest, which was basically an AV 12/12/10, 10 man transport with an assault ramp. It was 75 points base, and could be upgraded with a variety of weapons and fast engines for chunks of points. I know that's not a rumored unit (Stormraven happened), but rather, that kind of unit is what I know a lot of SM players want the rhino to turn into.

Also, a new monstrous creature that really should be a walker will appear and it will be at least one and a half times larger than is reasonable and have some sort of jump or teleportation mechanism and will suspiciously resemble a grimdark gypsy danger.

Much bitching will ensue over it.
