My friend came up with a game type called Last Stand(Based on DC)
It really cool and The rules for your HQ choice are:
-Under 200 points
-Non-unique
-Allowed upgrades of any sort

So I was hoping that you could post your awesome HQ choices from these guidelines!!!

Destroyer Lords come to mind. Sempiternal Weave and MSS, maybe a Tachyon Arrow if something big comes your way.

Sounds good! My guy that I take is an Autarch w/Swooping Hawk Wings, Fire Sabre, Shard of Anaris, and Mantle of the laughing god

Bike Farseer, Mantle, Spear. The bike is a good platform for the buffs, and the mantle is pretty handy for protection.

I like taking a naked Spiritseer in Eldar, as it's a cheap HQ. I often find I want to save points on the HQ for more units.

So Haemonculous in Dark Eldar with just a liquifier is good, he gives a buff to the unit and can leave, flame something and dies and his buff still sticks around.

However, for Arena style combat, maybe a C:SM DP with a Black Mace? Are they cheap enough to qualify?

Elysian drop troops CCS in a dedicated transport Valkyrie. Most "best HQ" choices can't even attempt to roll dice against a flyer, so you just fly around the table bouncing multilaser shots off their armor saves until everything finally dies.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Thank for those posts! Daba I will look up on that daemon prince with blackmace. If it is valid then what mark to take? Khorne would be good for cc buffs including black mace would be amazing!!!

I can't remember exactly what the marks do, but Nurgle seems to be popular, or Tzeentch for a better invulnerable.

It might push points too far though, so possibly Slaanesh as the cheapest? (IIRC)

Not 100% sure on points, but:

Ork Warboss
-Bike
-Cybork Armour
-'Eavy Armour
- PowerKlaw
- Shoota/Rokkit Kombi
- Ammo Runt x3
- Attack Squig

Super fast, super shooty against infantry. Also carries Ammo runts for his Rokkit To hit re-rolls for taking out something tougher!
Toughness 6 (due to the Bike) and has a 4+/4+/5++ (Take the 'eavy Armour as I don't think the Exhaust Cloud works in CC)

So if you have a target you want to take down...
Shoot 3x TL S5 shots, 1x S8 shot (with 3x re-rolls)... THEN... Assault the model and bask in the WS5 S10 T6 A6 (On the charge). (oh and I1...)

I somewhat agree, but I'd drop the rokkit and ammo runts. not worth all that for one shot. And you don't need eavy armor as the bike alreadt confers a 4+ armor save.

DP starts too high when you add the mace you are just short of going over without marking, add the mark and youll be about 5 over.

go a lord, MoN, Bm + LC + terminator, roll on the boon table, Melta bombs, aaand a combat familiar. cos why not have more attacks....

Khorne juggerlord, axe of blind fury, 4+ inv, and a roll on the table - you might luck out and get 2+ armour or EW. 185 points including melta bombs for 7-13 attacks on the charge (unless you roll a 1...) at S6, AP2, I5, WS5. Usually minces any unit it touches.

Dakka guns are TL Assault 3 S5 AP5 weapons. I dont know what you are saying about 2x S4.

But I would agree with the biker boss, I use him alot, but without having an individual FNP he really only benefits when in a squad with a painboy.

twin linked shootas can be taken on a biker boss(S4), but are useless compared to the dakkagun. But he cannot fire both guns because they aren't pistols. maybe that's the confusion.

bikerboss leads to bikernobz troops, Bikernobz troops lead to waaagh banner and bikerdok, that then leads to...umm, awesome troops choices, with all those perks!

Agreed about the Rokkit Kombi--you could just take the combi flamer, which doesn't need to roll to hit anyway.

Chaos lord - Sigil of Corruption, Vets, MoK, axe of blind fury, juggernaught.

And he's only 175 points, which means you either save points, or can blow the rest of them on goodies like a combat familiar and a lightning claw, or getting rid of vets and adding in a baleflamer.

In any case, he's an independent character, so he can hide in a squad, he's got a lot of 5's in his statline, moves 12" and ignores terrain, thanks to the juggernought, and he gets up to 12 S7 Ap2 attacks on the charge at initiative 5. With a 4++. And he makes berzerkers troops, woot!

Not the best HQ in the codex for less than 200 points, and the best choices come in at about 165 or fewer (adding points to get up towards 200 is sort of just adding bloat). But it's not too shabby.

CCS in a Vendetta or Valkyrie. All of the HQ choices above are vulnerable to MSS and don't really do anything to armies that aren't worried about H2H.

I'd have to go with my Ethereal. One of the cheapest HQ's in the game. Ld 10 bubble, can offer some great buffs to your entire army, and guaranteed to get at least a semi-useful warlord trait.

Or possibly a Space Wolf Rune Priest. Best psychic defense in the game, one of the best offensive (probably the best) powers in the game, still very cheap, and can even get 2 divination rolls.

assuming this is about a single guy taking on waves of enemies, a daemon prince, bikerboss or destroyer lord spring to mind, toughness 5+ is a necessity. you might want something shootier though, so a command squad for guard or t'au might to better. if it's a straight-up duel between HQ's, i'd go for anything with a force weapon.
