I really like the thunderfire cannon.

So I am thinking taking 3 but thats alot of anti infantry so what has the space marines got to deal with mech?

Autocannon dreads?
razorback (las/plas)? for the troops?

I have/seen most lists today carry 3 main units,
1.thunderfire cannon; anti-infantry and ignores cover
2.stormtalon; cheap anti-air or anti-infantry based on the load out.
3.Drop-pod Sternguard; my favorite of the 3, take a 10man squad (for combat squads), give half combi-meltas and the other half either combi-flamers or combi-plasma. This could be your anti-armor unit but will not last long if deep in the enemies deployment.

Other units to consider..
Thunder hammer Terminators
Multi-melta attack bikes(haven't used these yet but heard great things)
Landspeeder typhoon (long range rockets)

I am by no means an expert but hopefully this helps a little. Also in just a month or two the new space marine codex should be released, so for now I would get things you really want and then wait to get all the new goodies.

I know they will be getting a new codex I am just brain storming what's good and what's bad. I think the TH/SS termis won't change much in the new dex nor will the typhoons or bikes (probably similar to DA)

For a C:SM army to work you need to think of what you want to do with it , Sternguards are a must , but what you must chose first is what is the type of your army , gun line , fast assault , steel rain , In your face ? and then you need to make sure that the units you will take complement one another , for example , i use MM/MM land speeders to deal with most armoured treats , they are fragile but first turn i deliver 2 pods , one with 10 Sternguards and the other with a Ironclad dread so that makes my opponent prioritize targets , that way i am sure that i will do damage and it will allow my rhinos to move midfield and my predators(triple las to deal with tanks as well) and whirlwinds(i do not own a thunder fire cannon) to rain down fire for 2 turns mostly unmolested .Also plasma cannons on the tactical squads turn a ok unit into a treat.

With Space Marines its much more that just units its about combinations and tactics!

I was thinking gunline, I thought assualt are not that good anymore (other than landraider TH/SS that is obviously still very good), steelrain I dont know since i never played against a proper one or never thought making one.

I prefer the typhoon over the skyhammer, especail since you already have a lot s7 in the list. I got to say you are burning a lot of points on the stormraven for really just a MM. The top turret assault cannon has a huge dead zone around the the model, but still good for anit flyer.

You are very light on Troops, I would drop the Dreads (which aren't very good at all in 6th) and take more Bikes. I'd also drop the Aegis Line as you don't really have anything to sit behind it and/or man the gun.

Wait a month, save your money, and paint the stuff you already have. The new marine dex is a few weeks from release. If you buy something now odds are there will be things you want a lot more when the new dex hits the shelves.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

You wait a month.

But seriously TFC, a StormTalon or two, and some allies.

Should probably add in cheap Hammernators. They can still do Hammernators cheaper than anybody else.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Step 2: Read the new SM codex.

My lists for C:SM have included null zone Libby, a rune priest," TH/SS termies, Lysander or vulkan, ironclad dread, 3x MM attack bikes, a land raider(to project/protect null zone), sometimes sternguard, and a thunderfire, looking into getting a stormbee.

My lists end up being a little of this a little of that. Cover all the bases and just out-think your opponent. Marines still can be VERY competitive but it takes skill. Don't wait a month :p. get your models while prices are lower haha.

Having them cheaper than everybody else's doesn't make them a good choice. They require a Land Raider to get to where they need to be for one, which means they are no longer cheap, and they die pretty quick to the amount of firepower armies put out these days. Those points spent on Sternguard generally give you more bang for your buck.

I agree with waiting for the new Codex To arrive and take it from there , in the list you present i find the lack of anti av14 disturbing , the MM are good but with only 24 of range in a gun line army its some own lacking , the combo with the dread and the Thunderfire cannon are great , pop the transports and then bast the troops , i would change the storm raven for a triple las predator (they are cheap on ebay)
