Hi guys.

I will glue my marines next week, and as I would use 5 of them as purifiers (at the beginning, will add 5 more later), I hesitate with equipying them with halberds, to have 3 attacks I6, or with falchions, to have 4 at I4 (on charge)

What would be your opinion ?

Thanks !

You also have 2 attacks with Halberds; Storm Bolters aren't pistols.

Nemesis halberds are two-handed weapons, so you can't have 2 CC attacks for having 2 CC weapons, I believe. Am I wrong ?

Ok, I misunderstood his answer, I though he was speaking of charge bonuses, my mistake .

If you are assaulting though you usually want to be finishing them off in the opponent's turn, not yours. That many AP3 attacks is going to sweep most units and leave your guys in the open to die.

You're right, that's why I would play 5 units squad against necrons / SM, and 10 units squad against nids, or orks... By the way, Halberds seems to be more efficient than falchions, thanks to the Initiative bonus

The common build for 5 Purifiers is 2 Cannons, 2 Halberds and a Hammer. I don't think I've ever seen a serious list use Falchions.
I 'third' this as the best overall general setup.

That said I tend to specialize them by having one squad all with halberds (and a cannon) and have another squad have hammers rather than mixing it up. (that way I can send the quick guys at the 3+ or lower saves and the hammerers at vehicles or terminators as appropriate. )

I am interested in your way of running them : pure anti-troups CC specialist squad or "anti-tank / terminators" squad with hammers and cannons.

The one thing I don't like with the first combo ( 2 Cannons, 2 Halberds and a Hammer) is that you have to sacrifice two low-AP weapons to have the cannons, which are AP4. IMO purifiers are designed to be CC squads, with their 2 CC attacks.
