Who do you think is the most overpriced unit/model for what they do? From personal experience, I have to say Njal Stormcaller who comes in it 270 after his runic terminator armor and still only has two wounds with a horrible stat line for the master rune priest of the space wolves (plus 1 to BS and WS compared to a normal marine and ld 10). So that's my opinion, what's yours?

i would say venerable dreadnoughts, not that they are hugely expensive but they don't do anything better than a normal dreadnought besides i think a slightly higher BS and their ability to reroll vehicle damage (which has cost a friend of mine his dread at least once having rerolled a weapon destroyed and landing an explosion instead :/) this is all slightly mute now since the new 'dex will be landing soon so hopefully they'll make them more viable as an option

Man you really have a beef with Njal, hmm? There's waaaaay worse models out there than Njal, even in the Space Wolves codex. For example, Ragnar is horrible for his cost, he could afford to have at least 60pts shaved off to be semi-ways fieldable (even more if you're comparing him to modern points costs). Bjorn's pretty bad for the cost too.

Of all the models I can think of though, the one that takes the cake is Old One Eye. He's 260pts for a slightly better in CC Carnifex, but dies just as easily for a whopping +100pts. Carnifexes are already overpriced as it is, and you expect us to spend even more to get one that dies to a 3-4 missile launchers Cruddace? If it even survives long enough to get into CC then your opponent is doing something wrong.

I was just extremely disappointed with his effectiveness and feel that an ordinary rune priest can get the job done just as easily.

You're definitely right about Ragnar though. I have no interest in fielding him. More so than Njal. His model from GW looks bad too making me have even less motivation to use him

A Blood Angels Captain is pretty terrible. Only has access to half the equipment of other marines captain choices, no external buffing effects and is totally outclassed by any other character out there in melee or shooting.

A pyrovore would also be up there in my books.

Ohhhh I think this honor goes to the Vanguard Veterans by a pretty wide margin. Hugely expensive for very little benefit.

As far as the Tyranid codex goes, Pyrovores are pretty bad, Tyrannofexes are even more overpriced, but the prize goes to Old One Eye for being a whopping 260 pt overpriced character version of an already overpriced unit.

The Nephilim. Inferior to a strom Talon for 50+ pts more .

Dais of destruction is bare minimum 530 points. Vect(240) with his ship(200) plus 10 warriors(90) bare bones to meet the requirements to bring it. So he gets my vote

Flash Gitz, for 30 pts apiece you get 2 s5 shots at bs2, they are priced like some of the most elite units but are average or bad at everything.

Blitza-Bomma, costs more than the also overpriced Dakkajet, for that you get this really WTF anti-tank weapon that has the best chance of destroying something when your bomma crashes into the target.


Moneywise it has to be meganobz, 10 guys 330 euros, ugly too.

Templars-wise the Command Squad can spend 160 points per model on weapons and Wargear on 1-wound models. Terminator Honours alone are ludicrously overpriced, paying 5/8 of the cost of the model for 1 attack and +1Ld is just insane.

I just started DE, and is the Dais good, even if it is overpriced? Ive not thought of using it, just curious.

And OOE gets my vote too. Carnifex's are incredibly overpriced for what they can do. You need one in a pod with 2x TL Devourers to make them useful. OOE costs 260pts, more than any other Fex can be made to cost, and is CC only, and dies just as easily.

Give him a 2+, FNP and drop him by 60pts, then we'll talk.

Ahriman. He is near 300 points, and his special thing is that he can cast 2 witchfire a turn. Hat is not worth it.

In the eldar codex I believe that Karandras could be a contender because he's like 220 or something and he doesn't even have an invulnerable save of any kind. He is tank in CC though

I would rather take 8 Zoanthropes than a brood of Fex's in anygame (and that is without upgrades on the Fex's!).

Infact I would rather take 8 of pretty much anything...

100pts for an av10 fast, open-topped skimmer that can only ever make snap shots if it moves. (and one of it's weapons is impossible to snap shot since it's a template!)

From personal experience: Grey Knight Venerable Dread

They cost nearly 200 pts (or more if you pimp them out). I used to run 2 because I love the models and the fluff, but they just aren't worth it (they could have WS10 BS10 and they still wouldn't be worth it since they are just too fragile - should have av 13 or +1HP). I now use them as regular dreads and save 60 pts a piece.
