Hey all,

So I'm starting on a new project, and I need some help.

It's going to be an army of light - that meaning that I'm going to use the rules for the demons of chaos, but it's going to be populated with members of the higher planes rather than the lower ones.

The general is going to be this guy:

Here's where I need the help.

I can't find anything suitable for flamers. I've got 2 ideas - either actual flaming elementals or robed, wizardish/monkish sorts of guys wielding fire. I've done the usual Google image search, but none of them were suitable - so I'm hoping someone else has knowledge of some awesome looking models I'm not thinking of.

I'd also like to find a wider variety of 28mm angel sculpts - reaper minis has a few good ones, but there must be better somewhere for fury use.

I throw this out because it's worked well in the past. I'm always amazed at the places people find awesome stuff - maybe I'm just crappy at searching for things.

At any rate, I'm going forward with the army next week, and your help will be greatly appreciated!

For things like flamers or screamers, you should go with those really weird old testament angel designs. Twenty eyes, ten pairs of peacock wings, that sort of thing. Get some spawn kits and a bulk order of plastic wings and just go to town.

I don't have any recommendations on models, but I just wanted to say that this is an awesome idea. Also, Badablack's idea for flamers is great. The type of angels he is referring to are called seraphim, whose name translates as "burning ones." So, they are pretty much screaming to be flamers.

It has like half a dozen centuries worth of paintings of angels and demons in Western art, plus explanations and a bit of history.

Mantics new kings of war army has some angel models. But i don't know their scale in comparison to GW models. But mantic tends to be more realistic in propotions. Although those angels might be larger as normal humans and as a result could work.

Also do you have any fluff for the army? As soon as I read your premise so many ideas came to mind.

Nope, no fluff for the list yet. I'm pretty centered on the modeling portion at the moment, and I haven't put any thought into how to work it into the Warhammer world.

Quick update - I found an alternate general model. I'm thinking he'll be caster sort of lord rather than the fighter. All he needs is an appropriately large and ornate spear - I'm thinking about converting a lord of change's staff.

In older edition fluff and WHFRP 1st edition, Warhammer had gods of Law to oppose the gods of Chaos. There's still a couple mentions of Solkan the Avenger(master of vengeance), mostly mentions of Solkanite Inquisitors, as a nod to those days. Solkan would be the most likely to have an angelic army, though making them a literal army of light serving Alluminas(master of light) or having them as servants of Arianka(master of we don't know) searching for the crystal keys to free her from her hidden prison would work, too.

I'm definitely going to steal this idea but I'll still throw out some fluff ideas. Lol

There are other minor gods in the Immaterium so you can create one since none are actually mentioned anywhere, at least I could't find any. Maybe make it the god of hope and perseverance or something along those lines. You can also use the Starchild and the Sensei.

Also the main Chaos gods have Astartes on their roster why not this deity. You can use a lot Sanguinary Guard/Dark Angel pieces.
