Would it be possible for the Chaos warbands to still have the Cataphractii and Tartaros Terminator armors? It says they were made toward the Horus Heresy and Horus tried to give the other chapters that joined him the best gear (correct me if I'm wrong). So is it possible that some World Eater or Death Guard veterans could have these Terminator armor still? Why would they give up their older, more advanced armor for the current Indomitus armor?

Easier to maintain? I suppose. I have no facts to back me up for this. Just a wild guess.

It's certainly possible. The reason you only see the current form of terminator armour on chaos models is because the other patterns of terminator armour have only recently been introduced by forge world. They simply didn't exist before so you don't see any in the models or artwork.

Quite possible. due to the nature of time in the warp, ten thousand years may pass in a week, so the armour may still be brand spanking new even 10000 years later.

Yeah, they'll likely have most types of Terminator Armour kicking around. The trouble is that it's even harder for a Chaos Marine to get hold of a set than an Loyalist in most cases.

The Dark Mechanicum has the ability to create new suits of TDA. At what rate, who knows?

Why is it that equipment is produced so slowly? Aren't there going to be tons of planets with lots of natural resources? Or is that not the issue?

many reasons

Any termie armor taken from a loyalist marine is either filled with bullet holes or has some kind of heavy damage to kill the wearer.
and
The armour has just recently been introduced by forge world

I thought that both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Dark Mechanicum were now incapable of making new TDA. That they were only able to repair and refit old suits and that over time as some suits were damaged beyond repair there is less and less TDA out there.

There's probably some scavenging going on, especially with the newer traitor chapters. Having been loyalist and already having the latest equipment it would be easier to maintain them with parts acquired after a battle. Then one of the legion war bands could always steal them.

Both lexicanim and the wiki state that Mars has the stc for indomitus terminator armor. My guess is that they're busy with other things.

well if they can make them, I dont really see the Dark Mechanicus having too much trouble making some of their own either. It might have some sort of daemon living in it but same basic effect.

The Dark Mechanicus should focus on producing more squads of obilterators, imagine them in squads of 10.....

TDA isn't easy to produce, if they're even able to anymore. If it was easy every loyalist Chapter would have a full hundred suits for their veteran (1st) company.

Anyone seen a viable stat on the number of forgeworlds in the Imperium? I assume its in the thousands or 10s of thousands. Not all of them will be able to make terminator armour. There are a thousand chapters needing 100 suits and taking regular losses. That actually kind of stacks up if it takes a year or so to make a suit then it would always be easier to refurbish an existing suit than make a new one.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
