Well this is depressing. you would think parents would be more sensitive. And also know autism =/= Mentally Handicapped. Kids with autism can live normally lives.

Ontario police are aware of a disgusting letter sent to a woman caring for an autistic child by another woman who wanted the "wild animal kid" out of her neighbourhood, even if it meant killing the child.
The hateful letter was reportedly sent last week to a resident of Newcastle, Ont., just east of Toronto, who hosts her 13-year-old grandson, Max, during summer days.
Mother Karley Begley spoke with CityNews and broke down in tears as she tried to read the letter.
The letter was re-posted on Twitter by Lennon and Maisy, a young Ontario singing duo who also star on ABC's Nashville.
The post has been retweeted more than 3,000 times.

Durham Regional Police told Yahoo! Canada News that a report was filed on Friday and an investigation is ongoing.
"We are certainly taking it seriously," spokesperson Jodi MacLean said on Monday.

"We are consulting with the Crown to see if there is any criminality that went on with the letter."

From its tone, the letter might be considered anything from abusive to threatening or perhaps even criminal. It is addressed to "the lady living at this address" and signed, "One pissed off mother!!!!*"
*The number, but not the frequency, of exclamation and question marks used in the letter has been approximated in this post. It reads:
I also live in this neighbourhood and have a problem!!!! You have a kid that is mentally handicapped and you consciously decided that it would be a good idea to live in a close proximity neighgbourhood like this???? You selfishly put your kid outside everyday and let him be a nothing but a nuisance and a problem to everyone else with that noise polluting whaling he constantly makes!!! That noise he makes when he is outside is DREADFUL!!!!!!!!!! It scares the hell out of my normal children!!!!!!!!!
The letter goes on to state:
Crying babies, music and even barking dogs are normal sounds in a residential neighbourhood!!!!! He is NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a nuisance to everyone and will always be that way!!!!!! Who the hell is going to care for him????????? No employer will hire him, no normal girl is going to marry/love him and you are not going to live forever!!
T]hey should take whatever non slowed body parts he possesses and donate it to science. What the hell else good is he to anyone!!!!
You had a slowed kid, deal with it... properly!!!!! What right do you have to do this to hard working people!!!!!!!!!
I HATE people like you who believe, just because you have a special needs kid, you are entitled to special treatment!!! GOD!!!!
Go live in a tralier in the woods or something with your wild animal kid!!! Nobody wants you living here and they don't have the guts to tell you!!!!!

According to CityNews, the neighbourhood has come out in support of the Begley family and is trying to determine who sent the letter. The reaction on Twitter was no less severe.

I've cycled for Autism causes before and know a handful of friends who have Autistic family members.

I'm curious to know if the kid had the correct treatment, as well as how much of a disturbance he was causing. It is possible his parents were abusing/not giving him the proper care.

That letter was brutal, I'll follow this to see if they find the "Normal woman with kids in the neighborhood" out and see what the collateral is then.

I laughed at the letter because it's so ridiculous, pretty messed up thing to send to the family though. Looking forward to the naming and shaming of the person who wrote it.

it was typed out on a semi-folded piece of what appeared to be "rose" colored paper or at least thats the picture that I saw circulating on facebook yesterday regarding this.

My brother is autistic and I, as I'm sure everyone in this hobby has, deal with autistic people of all ages on a daily basis.

I will be the first to tell you that they can grate on my nerves, but this is entirely uncalled for.

Although from what the letter suggests, either this child has something a bit more serious than Autism, or more likely, she's wildly blowing a tic the child has out of proportion. These kids have enough problems to begin with just coming to grips with their condition, they don't need other people causing them even more stress.

People get militant over the most petty things. There's the classic stories of people looking out their windows only to find their neighbors measuring their lawn in the early morning to see if it's even slightly over regulation so they can complain about them to the homeowner's society.

My bet is that this is either one of "those" places, or it was some gak kid. Either way, not cool.

The biggest surprise is that this happened in Canada, of all places. You guys are supposed to be known for being overly polite!

So reading between the lines of hate in this missive it appears to be a parent who thinks their children and their expectations of peace and tranquility are at risk due to this autistic child's behavior.

I have seen and dealt with lots of parents who have or claim they will engage in the most violent and repulsive behavior because of some offense towards their kids. Through it all, is a parent who for whatever reason is scared for their kids and doesn't know what else to do to protect them but to lash out in the most insidious ways that ultimately do more to harm their children and then help.

For some reason Of Mice and Men comes to mind.

Crazy-arse neighbors are everywhere. We had one, a stereotypical PETA-person, try to get us in big legal trouble for "not having a dog shelter" in our yard. Apparently this is animal abuse. Little did she know that our dogs sleep inside.

She has tried all sorts of petty crap like this before, including reporting my parents for child neglect and abuse when she spotted my little sister sitting out-of-doors during school hours. This was because my sister had been vomiting the entire night previously since she had the 'flu...

Slowed? I'm pretty sure autism has alot of bad names, but I don't think this one is appropriate. One of my friends has asbergers, that doesn't stop him from taking BC calc in his sophomore year.

For a lot of people, lacking social skills is a sign of being "slowed". Most of those people also devalue science, logic, and math skills.

Pretty messed up letter, I wouldn't be surprised though if (as mentioned earlier) it was actually some teenagers.

I strongly doubt that the "noises" are loud enough to disturb a neighbourhood. Kid must have the lungs of Christina Aguilera.

Because when we have kids who have difficulty in social interaction, labeling them with a condition that sounds like "ass burgers" probably isn't the best idea.

Also, this clearly couldn't have been a Canadian who wrote the letter, they're too polite. Obviously this was a conspiracy by foreign terrorists who immigrated to Canada in an attempt to bring it to its knees in a horrible storm of anarchy and suffering.
