I wanted to give my Typhus model a unique looking force weapon. Manreaper is a pretty threatening piece of kit, so I wanted the paintjob to reflect that suitability. Came up with this, though I'm pretty sure it's been done before.

This is what we're going for:

Here's how it looks on a mini:

How to:

1. Mix up a bright orangey red for your base. You want this to look hot, but somewhat darker so you can layer up to white at the tip. Paint the entire blade this color.
2. Once the orange is dry, drybrush the majority of the base of the blade black.
3. Drybrush dark grey, layering it so that a little bit of the black is visible. You're going to do this every step of the way, to layer the paint up the blade. You want it to look like ashes on coals.
4. Drybrush a mix of a dark grey color and a lighter grey color.
5. Drybrush pure light grey.
6. Paint the tip: Layer on a lighter orange color, then continue layering lighter colors, working through yellow, then white. Done!

It looks really good. Did you customize the reaper sickle? Some of the angles look off on it somehow.

Thanks! It's made out of plasticard and a Halberd of Caliban.

It looks out of place on the harbinger of the plague fleets... fire destroys disease, fire destroys and strips bare all life, which is kind of anathema to everything nurgle stands for. An interesting effect, to be sure, but it feels thematically wrong, like introducing an autoclave aboard the Terminus Est.

Things I've gotten other players to admit...
