Subject: Mierce Miniatures - News & Rumors Thread - METAL AGE (Metal Infantry Miniatures) on Pg. 181!
The are going to metalize stuff up to 60mm base size,
beyond that is certainly not economically viable (and I would not be surprised if some of the larger Monstrous Infantry will make less sense in metal than resin, so we may see some but not all of those get a metal option)

Yeah, I'll be after just the infantry in metal, not the monstrous infantry. The a la carte pricing is great and very much appreciated!
But the new graphic looks to have a typo for the cost of adding 2 Monstrous Infantry - here is the text that was on the campaign page yesterday, with that line in red:
Infantry Starter Hosts always contain:
- 1x General (increase your pledge by £6 to purchase separately)
- 1x Sorcerer (increase your pledge by £6 to purchase separately)
- 1x Infantry unit of 10x miniatures, including champion, banner bearer, herald and 7x warriors (increase your pledge by £27 to purchase separately). The 7x warriors include the alternate warriors of the banner bearer and herald
- 1x Monstrous Infantry unit of 2x miniatures (increase your pledge by £27 to purchase separately)...
- ...or 1x Monstrous Infantry unit of 3x miniatures (increase your pledge by £41 to purchase separately)
10% discounts from RRP are given on purchases of starter host contents. We want you to purchase the starter hosts!
That text is no longer on the main page, replaced by this graphic, but the cost of 2 monstrous infantry in the bottom left of the graphic is different:
Looks like a mistake in the graphic, so maybe someone could pass this along in the comments?

Automatically Appended Next Post: And they have replied:
@Pete - deliberate, made a mistake on the original text. The Brutes and Trolls are bigger than the Tarvax / Wælwulfas, and so are a different price point (£20 opposed to £15 each).

I am down for 2 starter sets I think. I am a little ambivalent towards the monstrous infantry, but the regular infantry and heroes are pretty exciting to get in metal at pretty good prices.
I am a little worried about the high funding goal, vis a vie not having many exciting stretch goals, but I am pretty happy even with the base deal so I am not too worried!
It's going to depend on how the moulds are set up (and what size they are)
but based on one of Olleys Armies a year or so ago KS where he gave costings a mould is about £90 from gryphon,
but he had done as 'set' moulds which are pretty inflexible long term as you get a 'set' every time you spin (and if it wears unevenly you may end up with some parts of the set becoming unavailable)
better to have a mould with one (or a small number of ) minis repeated several times so if a cavity gives out the mould still provides you with useful product so I suspect there will be several per kindred just from what unlocks at £10K
(The Olleys Armies KS had mould making work out as about 10% of the goal, assuming this is the same you're looking at about 2 moulds per kindred + 3 spare, perhaps for command bits?)

it's too hot, my brain is broken)

That's useful Orlando, and I chipped in towards a metal mold Grimstonefire had made over at chaos dwarf online for some custom weapons and figures he had sculpted a few years back, and can look at the costs of the mold. The number you're putting out sounds in the ballpark, along with the rationale about what to put in a mold.
The main thing is Mierce isn't having to pay sculpting fees for this campaign, which given the talent they were using saves them quite a considerable amount! So, the goal they have for the amount of models they'll need to have cast looks entirely reasonable to me (although I still am not sure that casting monstrous infantry in metal was worth it, given the space they'll take up in a mold compared to infantry models).

Good points, I probably am just used to most projects hitting their funding goal within the first 12 hours of being up. I wonder though how many sets they are going to sell; it would seem to be a function of how many people are like me and didn't really get in at the higher resin price but are happy for metals, against how many people already have all they want. I would imagine there are not too many that have all the awesome infantry they could possibly want, but it is hard to guess how big the total market is.
Still, excited to see some of the new kindreds out! The Welsh especially.
I'd also hope we get a fair few new faces this time round, as there's been quite a lot of people very interested in the Darklands range that just can't face the price of the resin (especially for the human infantry),
or simply can't imaging actually gaming with resin
I'd imagine a fair few will at least dip their toes in the water at what's about half price or less compared to the resin
The aftermath of the AoS release can only be good, there's bound to be players looking for a new game to scratch their Fantasy itch!

I'm all for cheaper infantry, it's the part I love most about Darklands and would even get me to play it despite the names I can't pronounce. Alas, the short kickstarter coupled with the launch date means I can't get in on this.

and a battlerep Darklands Angelcynn v Ysians Encounter (500 gold)
from Mierce in the comments
The video[s], by the way, [are] of a short introduction with Timmy and a few other bits and pieces, and then a battle featuring the exact Angelcynn host and Ysian host you see here. It worked out really well and should show you the full rules in a really cool way. Well, most of them anyway.
We didn't bother with weather for this one, nor did we show you how terrain is generated nor how your units are positioned, but it gives you a good grasp.
...and believe me, when you see how scouts and flanks work, you'll understand that your 6x4 battlefield is a LOT bigger than its physical size...

Glad to see Mierce getting some more videos in. The accents are pretty thick, but I feel like I've learned a lot about the game from the video. I would love it if they played some more games with different kindred and characters/beasts. Want to see Gomagg vs Krull!

Gomagg v Krull would be incredibly boring. The game really shines when you have small groups of infantry taking down big monsters or when a monster is ordered correctly to brace for impact and then mauls its attacker.

@cincydooley - we fought that not long back and it was actually a cracking game. Gomagg eventually took down Krull, but then he was killed by a Fiend (as Krull had took chunks out of him beforehand)... the Albainn won in the end, although they only had some Gairlom left.

This one is a bit different, however, as it is about casting existing sculpts in a new material.
So:
a) No waiting for the sculptors to sculpt additional models, which is why the other KSes are still in the process of being fulfilled
b) The casting is being done by a 3rd party, so not in the same work queue as the resin casting for other KSes.
