Very nice. I'm wondering if you put a little red on the blood drop between the angel wings like you did with Marine 1's gun if it would look good? Probably not to fluff at that point though, huh?

Really good job. Way to capture the feel and look of the army while at the same time playing up a more realistic depiction of light and shadow. Very 'in the trenches' kind of feel.

I love the dark feel it gives. Keep it up.

Thanks guys. I knew when I started this army I wanted them to look much darker than your average Blood Angels. It's taken a lot of trial and error but I'm happy with the tone now.

@ Chris P I did consider gem-style blood drops on the shoulder pads (they would be pretty much like the one on the sarge's iron halo). They perhaps look a bit plain as they are but I didn't want them to look too 'bling' – and as you say the all-black emblem is Codex-accurate.

May i ask how you achieved the red?
I've considered Red Talons in my future and love the gritty tone.

Thank you all for the comments and kind words, I'm glad you like them

@ mothman, sure, it's as follows:

1) Prime Black
2) Spray from above with Vallejo German Red Brown RAL 8012 primer (it covers the black easily being primer)
3) Targeted spot sprays on the upper areas (top of back pack, head, shoulder pads etc) with Vallejo German Dark Yellow RAL 7028 primer
4) Spray all over with Vallejo Model Air Red RLM 23 (this paint is quite transparent so you get the range of the black, dark red & yellow primer layers showing through)
5) Coat of gloss varnish followed by a wash made from Johnsons Klear & Black ink
6) I then went back with the yellow primer and another coat over that with RLM 23 to make the highlights brighter
7) Edge highlights here and there with Vallejo Model Color Red 33, and then a couple of tiny spots of Vallejo Model Color Amarantha Red 130

I did a some step by steps (on a drop pod door but the principle is similar) here:

These are beautiful dude, I love the dark feel. Nicely weathered, make me want some blood angels.

I don't normally like blood angels - a little too pretty for my tastes, but these are stunning. Nice and gritty. Great stuff.

I think these are my favorite Blood Angels. I really like the bases, the muted color scheme, and the drilled barrel on the Heavy Bolter is particularly well done. The huge bore makes it looks very menacing.

Thanks for the comments!

The bases are resin from Dragon Forge - highly recommended!

Excellent work. I appreciate how you kept your Mk VI armor intact. Except for marine two, and the sarge with Mk VIII/VI

I would have liked to see blonde hair too. :(

Your work with light and dark makes these models very easy on the eyes. I agree with your decision on the all black chapter emblems, and I also agree with Demigod about the heavy bolter barrel drill. That's just perfectly done. The sargeants face and scarring is excellent and characterful and nice attention to detail on the sergeants black field shoulder pauldron.

Cheers 6^. I try to be as purist as my knowledge / bits allow when it comes to armour marks

The mixture on the sarge was deliberate – as a veteran I imagine his armour to have been upgraded piecemeal over the ages, but that he's held on to old relic pieces where possible, like the Mk6 pauldron.
