Can it be done?
Obviously, you'd need to thin them. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it doesn't work well in spite of that.
Anyone have any experience they'd care to pass on?

I find that when thinned correctly they work just as good as Vallejo and others.
I use GW paints all the time through a H&S and I've never come across any problems.
Hope this helps.

I've found that they tend to clog mine, but then I've had trouble even with airbrush paints - I think my brush is just very delicate

What did you use for thinner? Water, alcohol, airbrush medium, or something else?

I just use Vallejo airbrush thinner, works a treat. I mix the paint up in a seperate cup first to make sure it's the correct consistency before adding it the Airbrush
The only problems I've ever had was with the Vallejo white polyurethane primer, a few seconds of spraying and it dried similar to PVA glue, took me a while to clean it out of the brush.

GW paint does work, but I find vallejo to be better and easier on account of the dropper bottles

You definitely can spray GW gitsplitta, but as the others have said they got to be thinned.
As thinner I've used Tamiya acrylic thinner and I've also used ammonia free windex. I've found a 1:1 or even 2:3 ratio to work well (paint to thinner) at around 20 psi.

I often use GW if I run out of Tamiya and I need a bit to finish or something , its just if I'm gonna get clogs its when I've done this , but then again it could be because my GW paint tends to be old and sometimes a bit lumpy (any make of lumps or flakes will kill you paint time , avoid that ! )
I thin with water or Tamiya alcohol , haven't tried the airbrush mediums yet but thinking I might.
Let us know how you get on !

I ordered theses:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D1GV8LU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
from amazon. I put some of the GW paint in them, added water to the consistency I wanted and then I labeled them. This way I could keep a pre mixed solution for each color I was planning to use. Basically the same as vallejo in dropper bottles.
I use GW paints in my airbrush all the time and they are fine. The vallejo medium works well too.

Thanks guys, that's a big help!

Yeah as everyone stated above, citadels spray just fine.
Personally I use Liquitex Airbrush Medium, to thin the colours with. As it is acrylic paint in its own right (clear and thin)
it can be added in any ratio without ruining the paint.
Water will ruin the paint very fast and wont get you to the viscosity you need without destroying the surface tension of the paint.

I have the Liquitex myself. Works great with powders too.

I often use GW paints but if you are using a BASE paint. Add some flow-aid and drying retarder because they dry very past on the tip and will clog a bit faster than regular paints.
I use a custom thinner and usually thin at 1:1 for GW. Add a drop or two of flow-aid when using BASE.
(Already have flow-aid in my mix but add some for BASE anyway)

I use airbrush medium, you can get it at some art stores, works great. I have also used alcohol (91%), windex, and acrylic paint thinner. I have found the best results with the airbrush medium.
Or actually, just get airbrush paints, so you don't have to mess with it. Do a few searches however, for even more perspectives...this question gets asked about once a month.
best of luck and have fun!
