It's been a long time since I've tackled a big project (aside from the ones sitting on my desk awaiting inspiration) so when Feast of Blades asked if I could supply another prize for their next event (October 11-13 http://www.feastofblades.com/) that sent my addle mind a thinking of possibilities. The two I thought of were a rail cannon system that could be used with my existing line of parts and an oversized MLSR rocket pod, both mounted on a Baneblade chassis. When put to a vote on my Facebook page the readers were more or less split and to honest, so was I. Decisions, decisions....

But one of the comments caught my eye and got me thinking. His vote was for a “ Multilauncher with several different sizes missile tubes. A size for every occasion.” Hmmm, I like that idea….

So I sketched up an idea that I loved. Two sets of launchers! A central system with a rack of missiles the size of ICBMs and two side pods filled with enough missiles to make a Bloodthirster crap his pants.

But enough talk, time for pictures!

First up are the two rockets systems. The center system will have four missiles with the two side pods having fifteen each:

Here’s the central launcher with most of the body blocked in. Still a lot of detail work to do:

And here’s the side pod, also with a lot of detail work to be done:

And here’s how they’ll look together:

Still an incredible amount of work to be done and a deadline looms. Best get back to work….

Oh, and did I mention I'll be casting it too?

Small update, been working on the mounts for the two missile systems. I’m going to try and be clever and come up with a way so that the side pods can be removed, probably using magnets. But it’s coming along nicely:

I also thought you guys would like to see it with the missiles installed

I know its just a test fit, but the large ones look rather cockeyed. Like the inbred cousin of the MLRS.

Looks great so far.

Thin your paints, drill your gun barrels, remove all mold lines. The Emperor wills it.

Thanks Nowlan!

Yeah it was just a dry fit. They'll be good and straight when it comes casting time

Thanks!

This is waaaaay too big for a Praetor hull. Plus I have plenty of Baneblades laying around here

Well work continues on this little project. I got just about everything blocked in and ready for all the detail work, and there's going to be a lot of that. As you can see there is a new base plate to go along with the MLRS mount, which will also work with my Heavy Tank Turret.

So much more work to do before the Feast of Blades....

A lot has been going on behind the scenes with this project. Namely a deadline barreling down on me (the Feast of Blades starts next weekend) but deadlines are also great motivators. Nevertheless it is finished!

So let’s first get you up to speed on where we are the masters and the resulting cast parts.

The supports:

The missile pods:

Mounting plate:

Launch tubes:

The turret:

Here is the launch tubes assembled:

Missile pods installed via magnets:

And finally, here is is….

THE SHADOWHAMMER!

And so this project comes to an end. Eventually this will all make it into my store once a few tweaks have been made, so just be patient

And oh yes, those headlight are light up, courtesy of my Illuminare LED kits. See my store for details.

Oh my wowness indeed! That is some serious artillery right there.

You mentioned tweaking it a bit? If so I wouldn't mind seeing some form of targeting system in place. Granted with a payload like that you are probably going to hit everything in sight but you get what I mean!

Thanks everyone

You can't see it in these pics but there is a radar dome on the turret for targeting. But yes, some optics would be good too. Just need to figure out where to put them

Well as it turns out I was not the first one to use the Shadowhammer name. That honor belongs to 1hadhq on DakkaDakka:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/.../posts/list/225933.page...

It's quite the coincidence that they're both missile tanks, although of different patterns. It's as if all Baneblade-based MLRS's want to be called Shadowhammers....

I will consider this a legacy to the work that he started
