Does anyone has a suggestion for an alternative model for the C:SM grav gun.

I really don't relish buying 12 TAC squads to get the grav guns, and was hoping for a cheaper solution.

A bunch of 3rd party producer have made alternative weapons - not for the grav gun but i think that there will be some nice counts as in there.
Just look for Maxmini, Kromlech, Puppetswar or anvil industry and browse through their weapons.

Maxmini have their Energy Guns and Tesla Cannons that would make decent stand ins for a grav gun.

I'd be tempted to use the Telsa Cannon myself.

That Tesla cannon especially would work looking at the plastic grav weapons.

My only thought with the T-cannon is that depending on how big it is it may end up looking more like a heavy weapon. If it's handles are anything to go by.

However! Rule of cool always stands and trumps all other concerns.

That is a great idea (I don't want to pay the silly prices I know bits vendors will have them at)...now,if there was just a better alternative to the centurions....

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I just went with 16 of the Anvil guns. I'm highly impressed with the look of them.

I just grabbed 16 as well. I want my options open for the command squad of gravitic doom.

Swing and a miss there IMO, if they were really going for a "totally not a grav-gun."

Most of the iconic elements of the grav-gun design are not present (cross shape on muzzle, partially exposed coil with casing over it, bolter-style rear element, wide cylinder on chamber, partially exposed box magazine).

To be honest, I would expect that weapon to be a plasma gun rather than a grav-gun, though it's not particularly close to either.

I dunno - I'm pretty convinced by this.

40k weapons have various identifying features, but the biggest is always the muzzle shape - I'd accept count-as plasma guns without the ribbed magnetic section, but I'd have a problem if it didn't have the distinctive plasma gun nozzle.

In that respect, this has the single most important element - the nozzle is the right shape. I think it's a better counts-as than any of the options above. I'll be ordering a couple of packs..

I was thinking this, and bought some grav-pistols (of which there are many for sale on ebay) with the intention of replacing a plasmagun's nozzle with that of the pistol. Not perfect but at a glance it looks similar enough.
