Well I just started to collet 40k (before I collected Vamprie Counts), but now I found two great armies to start for
me: TYRANIDS and NECRONS. And they just seem to have almost same goal (kill others (tyranids for hunger, necrons to retrieve their galaxy)), and they are also opposite: NATURE AGAINST THE MACHINE. So WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON BOTH ARMIES? THANK YOU!

I despise Necrons. Dang jerks refuse to stay dead.

I love my Nids. Whether it is Nidzilla, Endless Swarm or somewhere in between it is always a good time. Especially when going against Orks. And Grots take out a Carnifex...

All in all they have completely different play styles. So it comes down to the following:
Whose fluff you like better, which models you like better, play style.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Lots of fun Caps there... But, they may have a similar theme, however play very differently. Tyranids focus on Psychic powers, bug bugs, and swarms. Pros include short range firepower, numbers, extreme durability and Reserves. Cons include Lack of Long range firepower, a select few bad match-ups, and mono-build syndrome.

Necrons: Great Medium range firepower, Lots of Flyers, fast units, can deploy swiftly to grab objectives. Very tough base troops, and Wraiths/Lords are superb assault units. Cons include no low Ap firepower, and struggle with MCs/Interceptor units.

Tyranids are very fun and should be getting a book soon, plus are my army.

Also, Crons are highly survivable and destroy vehicles like its nothing, or can get fearsome anti-horde weapons like the Tesla destructor.

My advice: Read up on the fluff of both armies, look at the models, maybe watch/read battle reports of each army, then make your decision based on which appeals to you more.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

How about both?

One day play Necrons, next time play Tyranids. (rumour is they will get a new codex between Nov 2013 and sometime 2014).

Use your minis as "counts as". So when playing Tyranids, some of your Necron minis can be Nids and when playing Necrons, some of your Nid minis can be 'Crons.

You have the best of both worlds.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Well if you're looking for an army that's competitive right now, go with Necrons, otherwise you have to think about it a little more. I'd say the biggest thing is assault vs shooting, 'Nids are a more assault-based army and it's where they excel. Only downside with using them is when you play against Tau or other shooty-defensive armies, because most of your assault units will be dead by the time they reach the front lines in a situation like that. Necrons are shooty for the most part, and have a way to revive their troops (as opposed to spawning terms with tervs) and it is actually pretty useful. The other difference is MCs vs Vehicles, 'Nids only have MCs and their advantage is instakills usually don't affect them as much in shooty, but can still be a problem in assault. Necrons have quite a few vehicles and (correct me if I'm wrong) MCs so they get the best of both worlds with the powerful vehicle weaponry and MC cc weapons.

I play both, and have to say they are very different armies...exceptionally so.

Necrons are a bit more forgiving due to their core mechanics, and overall better saves on scoring units, but both are very different in play style.

Watch some games, read the fluff, and see which you like better.

Necrons are for the most part very close range shooty (24" or less) and have quite a few builds the can make (not many people use different builds, but the book supports them).

Nids have to be played VERY aggressively, and require a strong commitment to being very proactive in their game - a timid nid player will not do well. While they have a small amount of shooting, nids are overall a very assault orineted army - and while some feel sixth is more shooty (it is) and assault is dead (its not) being an assault army in 6th takes more skill than it did in 5th.

The models are very different to paint as well....crons have a lot of lines, and panel work, and symbols.

Nids are very organic, with a lot of curves and gaps and recesses.

See if you can find players in your area to borrow or check out their armies - if you live in the DFW area, pm me, and I would be happy to let you try either of mine.

best of luck!
