Hi Dakka.

I'm working on sculpting some faces at the moment (in 28mm scale) and it just occurred to me that you never actually see eyebrows sculpted on a face.

I was wondering about the reason behind this as it doesn't seem like it would be too tricky to do.

I was thinking possibly they might clutter the face or just the fineness of the hair involved would be impossible to replicate at this scale.

I'd love to know what others thought, cheers.

Well you can make the test quite quickly. Just touch your own eyebrows and guess how long they stand away from your face. Then calculate how much height they would need on a 28 mm miniature.
Yes 28mm isn't realisticly propotioned but even for heroic scale eyebrows would have to be paperthin. For people with bushy eybrows it is a possibility but for each normal eyebrowed-model it wouldn't make sense to sculpt them. It's much more realistic and time saving if you don't bother with them and just paint them on.

yeah, you can find the odd mini with bushy eyebrows, but that's about it...
i've never felt the need to paint them on the male minis that don't have them, but it's easy enough to paint them on the females...

not much point in sculpting on such a fine detail, unless you want ladies with big bushy eyebrows...
they do stand out when sculpted!!!

cheers

Use liquid green stuff to draw them on, then paint 'em.

Once dry, it's pretty thin.
