Tonight was the first episode of of the new IT Crowd. Of course the series is only one episode so it is also the last episode of the series ever. So really it isn't a series at all I guess, but a tease, a little tickle, before walking out the door forever.. I love that show, but do not have the Channel 4, so will have to wait. You guys get IT Crowd, we get Set McFarland's Dads. I feel repatriation is in order.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

We also get porn... we just have to ask for it...
That said...
The IT Crowd is basically comedy porn so it kinda balances out.
And by comedy porn i don't mean people having sex while making jokes. I just mean pretty good comedy.

I watched the final episode (despite thinking today, that the episode had finished years and years ago).

Sure, I got a few (literally, 3) laughs out of it. Aside from that, it was just terrible. Truly, awful, terrible. The laugh track never stopped for more than a millisecond. It was so, incredibly irritating.

Ultimately, the humour of this show peaked with. "IT Department, have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Which isn't exactly the most original joke in the world.

I thought it was funny. The laugh track is always annoying, but there were a hell of a lot of jokes that you needed to have seen the whole series to understand (such as the Jen and the Internet box bit, which needed a lot of unnecessary exposition from Roy).

Spoiler:
Richmond's brief cameo was a moment when I genuinely cheered

That and the last line. I think you can guess what it is...

Yeah, I hate when show use laugh tracks it feels hacky like the guys have no confidence in their audience getting the joke also it feels like I'm being forced into laughing.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
That being said I love Monty Python's Flying Circus and I believe they use a laugh track.

IDK about Monty Python or The IT Crowd but I went to recordings of Not The Nine O'clock News which had a live audience. They could add a laugh track later, I suppose.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I stand corrected. Maybe they should lower the volume on it a bit. It's less noticeable on The Big Bang Theory, which is also filmed in front of an audience, though I've heard many people complaining about that show's laugh track too.

I still feel cheated when shows do that as well as I seem to remember that the sound of laughter encourages laughter in others so if you're going to make a joke just let it stand on it's own.
