So I recently decided to start a DA army and got a few parts off of ebay that can be turned into multiple units. My friend plays IG and quite frankly, I am sick of getting destroyed on the tabletop. I need dakkas help in building me an 1850 list with my available models. So first things first is his usual list (he list tailors quite a bit) and to note that we have next to 0 LOS blocking terrain to keep his leman russ ap3 pie plate off my infantry. So here goes.

His aproximate list

HQ1-stock company command squad, 4x plasma guns +chimera sometimes runs a master of ordinance in it.

Troops1 veteran squad with 3 plasma guns w/ demo charge +chimera
Troops2 veteran squad with 3 plasma guns w/ demo charge (rides in vendetta)
Troops3 veteran squad with 3 plasma guns w/ demo charge (rides in vendetta)
Troops4 veteran squad with 3 melta guns w/ demo charge +chimera

Fast1 vendetta
Fast2 vendetta

Heavy1 Leman russ battle tank
Heavy2 Leman russ battle tank
Heavy3 2-3 basilisks

and sometimes an ADL combined with camonetting for the basilisks


Now for what I have to build a list with. (most of it does not have options on it as I do not know what I want to turn them into yet.

a Fortress of redemption
1 rhino hull (can be turned into anything with a rhino hull-rhino, demolisher, etc. I can get the bits on ebay)
1 drop pod
1 dreadnought hull
20 tac marines (I have currently been using these as scouts w/camo cloaks for a 2+ cover save on the fortress)
1 Belial
5x DW terminators
3x RW bikers (I have been using these as black knights)
1 Librarian
1 company master

Any help here would be much appreciated. My main problem is keeping scoring units on the table as his tanks and basilisks pound them. nothing I seem to have that does not get tucked inside the fortress seems to die from 1 round of firing. A usual game finds my dreadnought getting killed in 1 turn, my termies getting killed in 1 turn, and my scoring units dying in 1-2 turns.

Also, I do not know if he would let me play with FW models so please don't tell me mortis dread for anti-air like everybody else does. Also, a genreal strategy to go along with the list would help lots, as people who watch me play tend to tell me I do everything with a space marine army that you are not supposed to do with a space marine army. (like deep striking my termies and dreadnought into the thick of his backfield to get at rear armor and to have belials termie unit pick up that coveted extra point from "the hunt" warlord trait)

Please help a desperate gamer Dakka, I am tired of looking clueless on the tabletop at the local GW.

I play DA as well. And our anti-aircraft really sucks. For the models you have I'd say a Devastator squad with Flakk ML with your Libby having prescience inside an ADL. But that is a very expensive unit. Get an Attackbike with Multi-melta and arm your bikes with melta's. Since your playing Belial I would also add more shooty Termies since they are good at holding objectives.

On a side note: I use allied guard or allied vanilla with a Stormraven or a Vendetta squad of my own ^_^

wouldn't the devs w/ libby be better inside the fortress shooting from firepoints?

If you have the fortress then I say go for it. But in a relatively expensive army like DA, a Fortress is more than twice the cost of an ADL with quadgun.

Gonna be honest. If you run termies run knights. That's to much ap2 to run normal ones.

You can go alot of ways with your army but honestly you have to get more models to beat all those af 12 chimeras,
Honestly you need ranged units to pop tanks and ranged units to kill infantry either that or add in another 5 termies and a dread(making them vulnerable helps). To accomplish this something like this would work

Azreal

Libby
Power field generator
Auspex

Dreadnought
Assault cannon/HF
Drop pop

Command squad(Libby goes here)
X5 plasma
Apothecary
Drop pod

Bike squad(these guys if he goes first you outflank them but always outflank your attack bike)
X2 melta
Attack bike MM
Power weapon(maul works fine)

Tac squad
melta or plasma

10 termies
Your favorite load out( mine is all th/ss with 2 missle launcher) note the srgt can not trade his weapon

Predator
Las cannon/Las sponsons(your ace in the hole)

Dev squad(azreal goes here gives them 4++ and a 2+ tank)
X4 missle launchers w/ flak
Whirlwind(if points allow)

That should be about 1850
That gives you a solid answer for everything

Outflank is your friend. If you can outfkank and get in his face asap once the bikes hit those veterans they will be gone. Same with the tanks and melta bombs and krak grenades. I personally ignore the fliers.
