So yeah...sisters if battle....why?
This is me kinda raging about why gw choose to give any attention to a army most people don't like.
I mean... I haven't even seen anyone ever play them
Their are soooo many armies that need new codexs, my Orks included... I know it's kinda greedy but I want new ork stuff lol

Um.
No.
Sisters need a codex as much as any other army, Orks included.
Be happy the armies are getting updated as fast as they are now.
Just my thoughts on that.

I think the complete opposite actually.
I'm mildly annoyed (upset is a bit too strong) because the update isn't ENOUGH.
Sisters deserve a real codex, just like all the other armies. The reason you haven't ever seen anyone play them isn't because no one likes them; it's more likely you never see anyone play them because their models are expensive as hell and their Codex is difficult to even get a hold of. If the army received an actual legitimate model line, and a real codex, you'd probably see a great deal more interest in them. (I know I'd play them.)
I'm pretty much resigned to my fate as a GW apologist, and I usually respond to the "Raar-GW-is-evil-and-eats-babies-why-do-they-expect-me-to-pay-them-MONEY-for-stuff-Raaaar" posts with a heartfelt roll of the eyes. But when it comes to Sisters players, I think they have a legitimate grievance. They've been seriously getting a screwjob from GW for years now, and a digital exclusive codex update is just the latest nonsensical pancake on the stack.
Plastic minis. A real codex. It isn't an unreasonable request, since every other army gets them.
Just my take on it, of course.

Painful to watch as this is for the poor SOBs (<- which way did I mean that? ) at least they're acknowledging they exist. There has to be a real update at some point in the future. I'd guess end of 2014 personally. Come on, plastics!

I'm honestly not sure if you are just trying to tease SoB players, or if you just very egoistic.
Let me get this straight - because you'd like more updates for your favourite army, other players' favourite faction should be ignored? And a faction whose last proper Codex was from 3rd Edition in 2003, at that? Like, really?
Honestly, if you're looking to assign blame, then ask why there are still some individual Space Marine Chapters getting their own Codex. At least those can always be played using the regularly updated vanilla book.

Sisters had a basic WD codex before this, so you should be happy they are at least getting something, even if Orks have to wait a while.
I doubt there are any serious people that felt this update was unneeded.
Orks will get their time in the sun, and their release will come with new models. Until then, be happy for other peoples armies who have languished without an update, instead of whining that it wasn't yours.

Anyone over the age of 18 can appreciate SoB and wants them to get an update just as much as any other 40k army. Those opposed to SoB are still in the "ewwww girly army" phase of life.
Sisters need a new hardcopy codex and a completely new plastic range.

The SOB codex was HIGHLY needed. At least you had a legally obtainable codex, unlike the SOB. That's kinda a big thing. And even then this Codex still isn't enough because we need new figures. Go to the GW page and look at the prices. Insane. That's why you don't see too many players. Get some plastic sisters and you'll see them more often.

That's what I'm saying lol they give a army a codex and nothing else, it's a complete waste of gw's energy, if it came with miniatures than I'd be fine with it, but it's just a codex with not enough stuff in it

Well this is the absolute opposite of the complaint I've seen. Well done for going against the grain I guess?
The reason you haven't seen Sisters on the battlefield is because they're an expensive all-metal army that you can only buy online. The codex they were using before now was in White Dwarf from about two years ago, and never reprinted or made available in any other way. This is the barest possible amount of energy put into giving them their codex, and I'm glad they're at least acknowledging that the army exists.
And yes, woe betide the Orks for not getting an update in quite some time, but they have a gorgeous range of plastic models that you can actually find in stores. They also have a codex you've been able to buy in stores. Sisters have none of these. I wish they were getting the full treatment from GW, but until they do, I'm glad they at least have an available codex.

OP you're wrong, the SoB need a codex, they sell models of them and people who buy models and spend the time to paint them want to be able to play the game. I think they need to stop trying to get every single army for a 50 dollar codex, and do some double-dexes like the angels of death codex that had blood angel, and dark angel. Maybe combine SoB and GK, but get these people some new models and a codex like the rest of us.

Sisters of Battle are very different from Space Marines. Aside from being WS, T, and I 3 instead of 4, they also have Faith points that change how the army plays. 20-Sister units, Seraphim, Repentia, Penitent Engines, and a number of other units don't have exact analogues in the Space Marine codex. They're superficially similar, but quite different. A combined Inquisition codex wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for them and Grey Knights, but they deserve some representation.

Back when the Sisters first came out, in a 2nd Ed Chapter Approved White Dwarf article, I saw them as an excellent addition to the armies we already had because they were functionally a Guard Equivalent using Marine equipment, yet in their own unique way that dove tailed neatly with the Imperial line up. Big squads, Immolators, gun-slinging duelist solo models, unique rules, very different models. And them 3rd Ed came out almost immediately, fleshed out their rules and background, added units, removed units, still retaining their niche.
And that was it until that god awful update article, GW effectively forgetting about, limited access to models, no access to rules ...
Sister players need this new update to satiate them until a relevant hardback is released. And face it, with what we got with to new Marine Dex, most likely we will be seeing Sisters and Grey Knights roled into a combine Inquistion codex, or even as a suppliment to one of the upcoming Imperial books sometime at the end if 2014-15.

Well, it looks like that GW re-released the SoB codex from the WD two years ago and enhanced it with some newer gimmicks (APO formations, Warlord traits, and whatnot).
Minimal effort and maximal profit.

They play very different than Marines. Have you even played them?? I have both armies and they are completely distinct enough to warrant a separate codex.
Here's what's new in the codex:
1. Warlord traits
2. Relics
3. new faith system
4. changes in points
5. new art
6. new fluff
7. apoc formations
8. changes to units. (such as size and gear)
I'd say that's a little more than minimal. Is it everything we wanted? Not at all, but to dismiss it is wrong.

That's quite a lot. The best about the new release is that it is permanently available in opposition to the WD release before.

Why not make Codex: Xenos and Codex: Imperium and be done with?
Seriously Sisters and Space Marines have exactly 1 thing in common and thats power armour.

I am definitely upset about this release.
It has been too long. And they are giving us too little. And they are asking too much money for it.
And I don´t know what to do. Should I buy this dreg of a codex (again!) to show my interest? Or express my contempt by voting with my wallet?
It is one of my favorite armies, with an amazing background and distinct feeling. Warhammer 40000 has been over 25 years out there. There are many incredible cool armies that have disappeared while we get more and more and more and more supplements and codices about Space Marines. It is really frustrating.

Bit like Dark and Blood Angels then................I would agree with that - It would have been fine to do Codex Space Marines and non Codex Space Marines and then done supplements for indivudal Chapters as required. Sisters of Battle do actually have a lots of differences between them and Marines - hence the new Codex and many of them looked at here - from the stat line to the weapons load, through to the vehicles - certainly alot more than 90% of the "different" Chapters.
Grey Knights and Sisters are nothing to do with each other.....................
At the OP - when we (as a fellow Ork player) get our next Codex update we will also get new models, a hardback version and a proper launch - not a digital version and no new models. Unless you just wanted a digital update??
GW are updating pretty fast when you compare with previous editions....................
