As part of my specialist games blog, I plan to visit Mordheim and Necromunda soon and am in the process of printing/obtaining the rules etc. but where does one start with reference to getting the miniatures now that GW have given up on them? I don't fancy paying Ebay scalper prices; I had my fill of that with Epic and Man O' War so any links or resources to good alternative models? I guess the GW Empire free company set is a good start but what about Necromunda?
Basically, I want to get a couple of starter warbands for both systems so I can play a couple of games.

For Necromunda, id use Catachans for the Orlocks and some of those Dreamforge Stormtroopers for Arbites...that would make for a great little campaign too...the arbites come to town and are here to clean up the slums!!

You can also use chaos marauders with catachan heads for goliaths. Just be careful how you arm them as I don't think goliaths can have lasguns.

Hey filbert I have some spare gw necro. gangs which I am loath to put on eBay. Drop me a pm if you are interested.
Alternatively reaper does a cool set of not delaques. They're a tad smaller and have freakishly normal hands but they do the trick.
Foundry miniatures do a range call Street Violence. It modern/near future but plenty to choose from.
There's also the 2000AD stuff by both mongoose and Foundry. The former is more 30mm but may fit your needs.

The best place to start for Necromunda is the Chaos Cultists that come in the Dark Vengeance starter set. You can get those on eBay pretty cheap.
For Mordheim, the Empire Free Company is great as is the old Skaven Clanrat set (I think they're sold as Night Runners now).
