Thanks man- I'm going to tackle the gold parts tonight, lets hope I don't screw it up. With all the filling that needed done, there was no possible way to paint the parts before I assembled the model like the instructions suggested...I'd be interested to see someone build this kit per the instructions...

I would say attempt to mask it. But only if you think you can without damaging any of the surrounding paint. When masking off skateboards for spray paint jobs I was never able to not get a cut line around the masking. I know this doesn't really equate to airbrushing but thats what I know.
I think, however that you could do it with the brushes jsut as good as with the airbrush. You are a good painter, after all....

I'd suggest masking, as brush painting will leave brush strokes which, after spending so much effort spraying the red, would detract from it imo.

IPMS-USA, this one won't be published in print though, so I'm not going whole hog on it, but I want to do it up well.
If you get brush strokes, you aren't thinning your paint and giving it multiple coats.

I havea big jar of liquid mask, but I haven't really used it yet. do you think I can get the liquid mask off without hurting the red paint below it?
