So I've not been reading these boards recently, and I called my local gaming store to ask if they had any x-wing models and I asked if he had a TIE fighter. The guy on the phone laughs and says they haven't made that model in awhile now... so, did I miss something about FFG not making the Wave 1 stuff anymore?

Wave 1 just sold out due to huge demand. There is a reprint in transit, which should hit stores in November.
Nothing is OOP, Fantasy Flight just can't keep up with us nerds.

Do you think they will keep printing it regularly as long as the game is alive though, or will it possibly go forever OOP at some point before that?

But they got a supposed restock back in September/GenCon and I didn't see a lick of it in stores...

i grabbed 2 core sets right away when i 1st saw x-wing. about a yr later i bought a 3rd core set as i was stranded on 6 tie-fighters and wanted to b able to play an 8-tie-swarm. buying another starter set just seemed the cheapest way to go (i already had all the name pilots).
i find it interesting that the basic ships are so hard to find now - actually now that you mention it i think my LGS only has wave2 expansion packs left and the large ships. of the new ships bombers and B-Wings sold out the fastest.

As Aegis said, FFG isn't putting anything OOP, they just can't keep up with the nerd demand for good Star Wars stuff.
In response to the OP, Fantasy Flight maintains a pretty decent "what's coming" page at http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_upcoming.asp. Just change the middle drop down to "Miniatures" and you'll see that TIE Fighters and X-Wings are on the boat with the reprints for TIE Advanced/Y-Wings in process and a run of Interceptors/A-Wings getting ready to be run.
They'll be in stores eventually, but it does take about 3-4 months for each run to get to the US +/- however long it takes to work it's way to local retailers. I believe FFG has stated that as long as there is demand for something, it won't go OOP.

They had it at GenCon with the exception of one or two ships that not even FFG could get their hands on, and if I knew that I could get the Wave 3 ships easier than the Wave 1 ships, I would have bought those at GenCon instead of getting the Lambda and the B-wing. There was supposed to be a reprint in stores for September, which was supposed to hit at the same time the Wave 3 ships hit The reason why I started this thread was because of the words that I heard from someone whom I thought would be in the know. Kirsanth, thanks for that link, sadly "on the boat" doesn't help me :-\ I mean it does, but it just means more waiting. It's like dealing with the sudden boom of Warmachine and Hordes all over again.

FLGS employees/owners are RARELY "in the know". I've heard some ridiculous drivel spouted by owners driving players to different/preferred games/systems, for example.
Our FLGS tried to convince several customers that X-wing was DOA, and going to end soon as a line, and then pushed HARD for them to buy into Star Trek AW, which coincidentally he runs events for.

Yeah, if you read Dakka you're likely better informed than most FLGS employees. Most of them have jobs to do taking care of customers (one would hope, anyway) so they don't have the time to look into all the different brands they carry unless they have a personal interest in it themselves.
Based on when it changed to "on the boat" (roughly a week or so ago), it gives you a rough guesstimate of mid-November to Thanksgiving. The thing that's a real unknown is how that will translate to stock levels. With the amount of people who've basically said they're waiting for that boat, it's hard to say whether this run will put us at a normal supply level in stores for a while, or whether hoarding will ensue and snap up all the stock again.

I'd hardly consider that a Friendly game store... LGS sure, but I'd not use the F for it. Not if it tries to push customers out of one game and into another.

One online merchant I visited had Nov 15 listed. However, they're probably guessing like everyone else.
This game will eventually go out of print. The only question is when. If it keeps selling like this, its not any time soon.
Wave 1 will probably be the last to go out of print, since it contains the iconic X-Wing and TIE Fighter. Ships like the HWK-290 will disappear before that.

I know my local stores had some about a month ago but all the wave 1 stuff sold out now. I am glad I got them cause theres no way I would have dropped $30 on a tie fighter.

Definitely check around locally in places you wouldn't necessarily expect. I started buying minis about a month ago and managed to pick up the X-Wing and TIE Fighter boosters at a local comic shop as my first purchase, and just today found a Y-Wing and a TIE Advanced at a Barnes & Noble. I've heard Gamestops sometimes have them, but I haven't found a single store in my local area with any. Maybe you'll have better luck.

I've checked all of those places one might not expect... The only thing I can find outside of my FLGS is the core game. No one in North East Ohio has these boosters.

Not north east... But when I was in Ohio for a month, down in Cinci every B&N I went to had some ships in stock. That was back in Aug so they might not now. But this is the first time I've heard of anyone not finding some in a B&N

Core games galore, which would be fine if I wanted to increase my TIE swarm, but I'd like to pick up the booster so I can have the cards in there that are missing from the core game... Also, I'm not going to spend 60 bucks on gas to go to Cincy so I can pick up a 15 dollar model
