non-IC characters are units by themselves, so mephy cannot drop with the other unit

I guess that's an over site on my part. I guess I could swap the HQ's but I'm not to keen on sitting one of the best cc units in the game behind an ADL

Hmmm I guess he can go all Rambo if I keep him in the list, I'm pretty sure he will get dunked in the face pretty early though.

Any suggestions?

take a pred/LR/Rhino and use it as mobile cover. and LoS blocker for mephy as he moves across the board (when terrain won't work.) also, putting assault squads in rhinos is a terrible Idea. drop the plasmas on the sternguard and just take meltas. they are there to pop a heavy vehicle. I would suggest dropping the reclusiarch. thats 130~ points for nice toys. honestly the quad gun won't be very effective vs most flyers. would be better to just take a flyer of your own and pop the devs in a ruin. honor guard are nice but I would suggest giving them plasma guns. mephy is NOT a SC killer, he is a bully, if you put him against SC that have AP2 he will lose most likely (unless they are T5 or lower and fail 2+ saves AND not EW) use him to pop more vehicles and kill squishier targets.

on that note I would suggest droping a stern guard and dropping the other to a 5 man squad suicide. this should give you enough points for another assault squad w/ a priest. or a tac squad.

I've edited the list to make the drop pods work with out changing the core

Raiden thanks for your input I will review what you have written and maybe pop up a second list.

As much as I like tycho I just never find a good spot to use him. 175 points just feels... Ugh.. I know why you want to use them, and I am with you for fluffy ness, but if your looking for effectiveness... a normal Libby would be better as I -think- the BA libby can take divination which gives prescience

I don't think a BA libby can take powers from the big book, also one of the reasons I took Tycho is for the BS5 with the quad gun.

The Tycho choice isn't really for fluff I'm just looking for some protection for my devs and he has some utility to do that as well as army wide LD10.

hope it works for you, I still recommend keeping the jump packs on the assault marines for HoW and the movement. since you cannot assault after disembarking from rhinos. good use of terrain + the FNP will reduce casualties.

here are a couple of lists that have given me some luck before if you wanna try them.
you can swap the libbys out for astorath or some other SC HQ.

2 Librarian w/ Unleash Rage and Shield of Sanguinius – 325 (1 has a jump pack)
2 sang priests w/ jump pack and power weapons- 180
10 man Tac Squad w/ Missile Launcher and Plasma Gun- 185
10 man Tac Squad w/ Lascannon and plasma gun- 190
10 man assault squad w/ Sgt. w/ power weapon and combat shield- 210
10 man assault squad w/ Sgt. w/ power weapon and combat shield- 210
1x 5 man Sternguard squad/ combi meltas in drop pod- 185
5 man Devastator w/ 4 lascannons- 190
5 man Devastator w/ 4 Missile Launchers- 130
Storm Raven gunship w/TL MM and LC - 200

The idea is the tacs and devs sit back and hold objectives while the assault squads move up w/ the sternguard supporting via dropping in and drawing fire. the Storm Raven is a decent anti-air unit, this list still suffers vs hell drake spam (2-3). really I get tired of playing against those lists. keep one lib with your LC devs for preffered enemy and bonus cover. it stacks!!

Sanguinor- 275
3 sang priests w/ power weapon- 270
4 10 man Assault squads w/ sang priest sgts w/ power weapons-805
1 5 man Sternguard w/ combi meltas w/drop pod- 185
1 5 man devastators w/ 2 lascannons each- 130
1 5 man devastators w/ 4 missile launchers- 130
Storm Raven Gunship w/twinlinked MM twinlinked assault cannon- 200

A much more aggresive list, still suffers from the same thing the above list does.

they can, you just have to roll and can't pick them (unleash rage gives preferred enemy for w/e your fighting so theirs that)
