Purely aesthetics, which is your favourite style of terminator? From either GW or FW ranges.

There are quite a few now!

Tartarous style gets my vote. Like the plain heavily armoured look of them.

I really like the Justaerin in Cataphractii pattern armour myself, Although I am really looking forward to some Morlocks and the look of the new death guard terminators at Games day looked like they might be more must buys for me also, they looked a bit like earlier versions of the death guard 40k kits.

I like Typhus and the rest of the Death Guard terminators. I also really like the standard chaos termies, what can i say, i dig the tusks.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

I am a fan of both Cataphractii and Indomitus, but my favourite would probably be the GK termies, the helmets and pshchic hoods look awesome.

My favs are Grey Knights. I have a whole squad without the force weapons and storm bolters (replaced by combi plasmas and chainfists) as my Chaos conversions, the Heretic Knights. A bit of psychological warfare on Humanity. Since the Grey Knights will not bow to chaos, we'll kill them, take their stuff, and call it thanksgiving. Now they are filled with dust, and dedicated to Tzeentch.

Second vote is for the Deathwing box set. Unfortunately, they would take a hell of a lot more modding to be chaos.

Chaos is the only sanity left.

Deathwing terminators from DV look amazing. I'm also biased though because I play DA.

Many of the FW variants are cool, but I still prefer the standard Indomitus. It's the hunched look and that mean looking bulldog helmet that makes the terminators work for me.

Many people seem to love the GK termie armours, but I never liked them; they just don't look like terminators to me. Lack of the big boxy part going over the head just seems wrong. I liked the ancient GK models, that were just really ornate Indomitus suits: I'd have preferred GK plastics to have that look.

Cataphractii, all day. They just seem to me to be much more intimidating and powerful looking than any of the others. And there's just something about the pteruges on the pauldrons and waist that appeals to me. Looks kinda boss.

Deathwing Knights.

Terminators with robes. Win.

Bonus: they have studded greaves and vambraces on some weapons and leg styles, which i like the look of as well.

I think between the studs and robes they come off looking really menacing.

I love the Space Hulk Terminators. I really want to get them all off ebay but that's one expensive squad of models. Great poses though. Deathwing have always caught my eye too. I'm tempted to but Dark Vengeance just to have a workable army with Deathwing in it, but I get too carried away with collecting armies.

Took another look at the cataphractii, they do look cool and clunky but I really don't like the leather strips between the legs, can see what the look they are trying to achieve to fit in with te roman legion brush helmets etc but I think it's overkill. So sticking with the tartarous.

Great to see so many different opinions. I'm a huge termie fan myself, always dream I will find the time and money to buy 1 box of every termine box.

my vote goes to the metal deathwing kit from 2nd ed. that box set made me a 40K and DA player to this day.

Runner up goes to the GK plastic kit and DA plastic kit. both boxes full of extra bits.

As far as kits are concerned, and not focusing purely on aesthetics, I find that the G termie/paladin box gives you some amazing options for modelling. With everything being joined at the wrist, you can get great variety and posing, while you also get tons of extra options like the different helmets, the various shoulder pads and heraldry options, making them pretty great all round.

I also love the DA kit, but found that (especially when building the knights) that they were somewhat more limited in posing thanks to the robes limiting torso angles and the huge shields making only a few arm poses viable. Still awesome models, though.

I've build Chaos termies, and the same is true, you do need quite a bit of conversion to get particularly dynamic poses. The Chaos Lord is the exact opposite of this, with some epic poses and weapon options. Both kits are pretty awesome in terms of aesthetic, though (but I'd live to see termies in the style of the DV chosen, that might even get me into a chaos army)

Although I have never built them, the SW box seems one of the best (I must get one at some point). You get an amazing number of weapons and bitz, and a ridiculous number of things like heads and wolf bits. If they are anything like the SW PA box, they may shoot to number one in my list when I finally pick some up.

I think the Phoenix Terminators are really slick figures. Very distinctive. I'm also very keen on the Deathshrouds. These 2 are probably the best sculpts imo.

My actual favourite though, I'm still a sucker for the plain old Tactical Terminator with Assault Cannon. Iconic.

Without a doubt the assault cannon is the best looking weapon a terminator of any description can carry, it looks freekin immense!

I think the plain old Cataphractii are the best as they just look more powerful. Huge, bulky, adamant. Indomitable. The Justaerin take this one stage further and add menacing spikes and Mk IV helms.

The Tartarus and Legion Tartarus Patterns are equally good, combining the aspects from Comtemptor Dreadnoughts, Power Armour and TDA. It looks like powerful and destructive TDA, but mobile enough to cause damage.

The GK and SW Termies provide incredible amounts of bits. I have built 2 Paladin squads and have a 3rd box for a Thawn Termy Squad and I haven't even used all the bits from the first kit yet. The SW termies just look badass!

The new Deathwing and DWK look equally promising but I don't like the I Legion. I also haven't built Chaos ones either.

The CSM Termy Lord is a wondrous kit ^_^

The regular Termy kit is ok but pales in comparison to the newer kits, particularly the FW ones. I haven't built Hammernators but I expect they be similar.

The EC Pheonix Guard Terminators are pretty sick but they take too much away from the slabness of the armour itself. I'm not a fan of Deathshroud Termies.o
