My take on the new DE.

High Beastmaster on sc.chariot.
Ogre blade,enchanted shield,talisman of preservation.

Lev.4 Sorceress on Pegasus (shadow lore i think or life)

The 1st DE list that i really liked.

I don't know much about the new DE book, but I say if you like it, go for it!

It looks pretty good to me, the witches will handle combat unless you run into heavy armour which the bolt throwers and chariots will hopefully be able to handle and you should have magic sewn up with the sorceress and the warlocks.

My only concern is that it does seem like a glass cannon list, but then, when are elves not like that?

You need a BSB. I recommend a Master with heavy armour, a Sea Dragon Cloak, enchanted shield, Dawnstone, and a Sword of Might. He clocks in at 155 points.


I don't think taking the Beastmaster on a chariot is a good plan. It's too fragile. At least a Manticore has flight, which can be used to get it to hiding places where cannons are involved. Either way, he isn't a competitive choice. A better combat character would be a dreadlord with a giant blade, dragonhelm, heavy armour, shield and sea dragon cloak.

Otherwise, I'm worried, that you have no answer to warriors. I recommend a couple of scourgerunner chariots. Their bolt throwers can take wounds off the prince and pull him out of position. The S7 helps too!


Other than that, I'd fit in some Black Guard with the razor standard The ASF and S4, with armour piercing make them pretty good at grinding stuff out.

Sisters are pretty awesome too. I've not found anything that they want to fight, that they can't fight.

I forgot to mention the cauldron Hag , IS a BSB.

The Beastmaster Lord is on a scourgerunner chariot (HATE the name ) he is supposed to stay out of harms way and only shoot the harpoon on a 2+.
He is killy enough though to deal with light/medium threats if it will come to that.

1) I think 3 warlock units is too many. Without the sac dagger on the level 4 you're not going to have the spell dice to fuel her AND all those warlocks.

I'd drop one unit, and put those points towards a Kharibdyss maybe.

2) Not a fan of the RBTs. I'd drop them for another monster. 2x Kharibdyss is a pretty mean combo.

3) You should put a razor standard on the witch horde, rather than the flaming banner. Throw a demon prince or a juggerknight unit in there and it won't matter how many attacks you can throw out, and they'll just grind you down to nothingness.

4) Honestly, I'm not a super huge fan of the beastmaster. For 400 points I think you can find far stronger options.

The Cauldron BSB isn't the must take anymore. The build I gave you is better as it gives you a 1+ in combat and a 2+ look out sir vs cannons. Not to mention the S5.

That's 3 tiny units in 3,000 points.
You don't have anything to anchor.
I'd swap 1 unit of warlocks and 2 chariots for something that can hold in combat, and isn't forced to pursue/over-run.

Black Guard or executioners would work. Hell, even 10 cold one knights with warbanner wouldn't be bad.

I think you're list is seriously in trouble against dedicated shooting.

Yeah, unless you have her in with Hellebron or something it's too easy to pick that BSB off in combat. Cauldron witches are mean, but anything with high armour should be able to tank them long enough to kill the piddly little T3 2W model on top. Not to mention cannons and stone throwers.

Why can't you put a Master in a Witch unit? d6 S3 hits is hardly a massive worry with a 1+ rerollable armour save.

Putting your BsB on a cauldron will just lead her to death by magic missile, shooting or eating a cannonball. Just a bad idea.

Beast master is a 400 point Bolt Thrower. That is never going to be worth it.

Looks like you're going MMU/MSU but the combat blocks aren't good enough and the Chariots just won't swing it for you. 3 units of Warlocks is pointless, even 2 with a lvl4 is too many for my preference. You've got all these spells but no power dice to use them.

I wonder if Morathi would be better than your Sorceress for not many more points you get Ld10 and +6-8 to cast (which is flat out broken). Plus her silly rules and the ability to configure spells based on opponent.

Had a game yesterday with the above list.
Totally massacred orcs.

RBT's killed manglers and wolf-riders and opened the way for the rest of the army.

Beastmaster lord took out an arachnarok.

Managed to charge 6 strong unit of trolls with 2 chariots and killed them (in 3 rounds of cc)

Working side by side , 2 units of WE (one with the cauldron) charged hit head on 2 units of 30 savage boyz.
TOTALLY MURDERED THEM :-)

I loved the list.
It worked as good as i hoped.

If this is the power level you were looking for then putting competitive in the title is misleading.

This is pretty spot on.

A competitive Dark Elf list is generally like:

Level 4, Death, Twilight Cloak, D. Scroll, Pegasus.

Master BSB, HA, SDC, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Might.

30 odd Darkshards, FC.

3-4 units of 5 dark riders with musicians and crossbows.

30 executioners, full command, and a razor standard.

3-4 Bolt Throwers

5 Doomfire Warlocks.

The numbers may be jiggled to get a legal list.
