I've enjoyed a few of their boardgames, and it appears that Flying Frog has gotten on board the KS money train.

They've split their new boardgame into two separate SKUs, and are going a bit crazy with the "DLC"-sized paid mini-expansions.

They have done something I've not seen before for the "includes everything" pledge level - it's limited to 25 slots per "set" (now 50 per set) and is increasing in price every time they drop a new one. The first set of the "Mine Cart" level cost $325 (which is a pretty huge chunk of change for a boardgame, anyway) The current ones cost $475, which pretty much means I won't be buying into this game, ever.

I dunno. I understand that stretch goals aren't free to produce, and don't expect that things will be piled on, but to find out that the level that you would have pledged for has been bumped in price by $150 isn't exactly endearing.

There is a thread for this over in News and Rumors, but it is unfortunately, shamefully negative.

They talked a bit about the price shift, and it's pretty reasonable, but I don't think they should have put themselves in that position to begin with.

I'm considering getting into the game, but having been burned by a number of high production value complex board games, I'm wary of shiny expensive things these days- what's your general feeling on Flying Frog's rules, Azazelx? Balance? Thoroughness/careful wording? Variety? Fun?

Rules-wise they've light, fun. Very Ameritrash. Haven't really had any issues with ambiguity, and on the few occasions when we have it's been easy enough to figure out something that everyone is still happy with that seems to fit their meaning.
