So, the murder sword states that you name a character, and then the sword is x2 strength, AP1 and has the instant death USR. SO what if you choose a character with eternal warrior? Does that rule negate the instant death rule in this situation? Which rule takes precedence here?

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Eternal warrior will always work unless a weapon / rule says otherwise.

Alot of characters do lack EW now though, so its use is still pretty good.
More so against the named characters from the farsight list (specifically the riptide character)

O'vesa is the whole purpose in me taking the sword....I was curious about others though!

If its a character then its fair game.
If they have EW, dont bother.

Just make sure you have wings and a unit to pin them 1st since tau will overwatch you for comming near them.

Armageddon, Pry System, Armageddon Sector, Armageddon Sub-sector, Segmentum Solar.

EW or not an init striking X2S AP1 weapon is still good enough to get the job done. Slap it on a MoS sorc and try for the bonus init power and its even better. Even at its base power sword profile with that init behind it its beastly, but you also have a force weapon if you go up against other multiwound characters.

The Murder Sword is often under rated because people think if you pick a character that's an eternal warrior you're wasting it. At the end of the day it comes down to what you put it on. I personally recommend the above pr at least a lord with MoS.

Also you can use it on Bjorn, multiple init striking X2S AP1 hits before the big lug can swing his claw about is pretty good.

Eternal Warrior prevents Instant Death outright. It's not situational. (EW doesn't prevent "removes from play", though...)

Bjorne swings at initiative with his claw, so make sure your Init is high enough

Instant Death does negate a FNP save any Eternal Warrior might have. Remember that!

This guy speaks the truth. Don't forget this during a game.

See, you're trying to use people logic. DM uses Mandelogic, which we've established has 2+2=quack. - Aerethan

Bjorn is slow in his old age, a standard marine out initiatives him so I doubt a lord or sorc with a Murder Sword will have much trouble there.

Also note that you get the x2 strength, ID, and AP2 by being in base contact with the character, not directing attacks at him.

So assuming you named a character with EW, get in contact with him and some other multiwounded model and you still have ID.

Armageddon, Pry System, Armageddon Sector, Armageddon Sub-sector, Segmentum Solar.

The only way that would happen is if there was another champion and another opposing character in a challenge that wasn't the named character. Basically very unlikely to happen thanks to the champions of chaos rule.

Instant death from the MURDER SWORD does not cancel out EW. Thats why EW exists...
