Has the old Blood Bowl always been sold on GW's site? I just noticed it while looking for something else:

Aha, I had never noticed it. Thought maybe it was a recent re-addition. Thanks!

Happy to help. I ordered that very box from the GW site for my friends birthday, and that was over a year and a half ago.

What GW sell now is essentially the old 3rd Edition set that has been out for years and years - the only difference now is that the rulebook is a version of the 'living rulebook' that the community helped produce along with some of the rules and changes from the Deadzone supplement all rolled into the main rule book.

I have an older field so can use it. Something that always bothered me though was that there just wasn't much room for players laying down and was always worried about the paint getting beat up (yes, I am picky about my models:p ). I found online a range chart based on squares that matched the range ruler. The use of this seperat chart can be a boon to players like me as it would allow you to make home made playing fields with much larger squares where your models don't get best up and playing would be easier. You could even use it combined with your new field to make your own range rulers to fit .
I am a fan of the living rule book and found that converting fantasy models into blood bowl can be much fun. So overall, it is possible to play the game without ever having to buy the starter box. You can make a chart for dice results or I think FUMBBL sells a set of blocking dice. The templates that come with the game are also easily hand made.
