Hi, I play Eldar and have the 4th/5th ed codex, not the new 6th ed one (Sadly, I hear it's quite broken in some aspects), but I still understand there are quite a few things in this codex that could be considered cheesy, and I'd like to use them. The main problem is a mass of nob bikers, and quite frankly every game they've been in (His past 3-4) he has won, and they have dominated the opposition, his other troops doing little.

Thanks in advance mates (or pals, I doubt the Redcoats are awake)

Best advice? Buy the new codex.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

I'm going to walk up to the local tom thumb tomorrow and ask about it, that and/or the whataburger right next to it.

Are you calling a player 'WAAC' for winning?

Is he fun to play with as a person? Do you both enjoy playing competitively and bringing hard lists?

Best advice is to a) get the new codex, and b) read up on tactics/army lists to bring a proper take all comers list (TAC list) that can effectively deal with most threats. Then learn how to deal with nob bikers.

The only unit that can remotely be called "broken" in the Eldar codex is the Wave Serpent. Their shield blasts will negate the bikers' 4+ cover save, but otherwise you'll have to contend with their high T, two wounds, FNP and invul. As you see, Eldar cheese won't be of much use against your foe.

Luckily for you, nob bikers don't stand a chance against 6th edition Eldar. Your rank and file has rending weapons and there's enough S10 in the dex to give them something to worry about.

Nob bikers are fairly ownable by old codex eldar as well.

They are expensive, so small model count.

Are you using 5th ed or 6th ed rules?

Also WAAC and Beats-You are not always the same thing. Nob Bikers are decent, but hardly overwhelmingly good.

The first, and best advice, for you at the moment is to acquire the new codex.
We'll also need to know just what models you have in order to best advise you further.

Generally he isn't very fun to play with( But is often the only one who wants to play), and we always know who we're fighting so optimized lists are inevitable (I've tried to do a random match, he and one other guy in our tiny group were against it)

We play 6th ed

I really just have to proxy (As much as I hate it) because as I said, no job = no money = no models.

@Blacksails & Asclaim- He used to be fun to play with and would bring lists that were fun to fight against and good, but recently (Since summer) he hasn't been fun to play with. The only player that's been able to go toe to toe with him was a new player who plays tau, and even then the tau player usually gets rofl stomped. The other ork player is just now starting to play orks, and refuses to play with him around, otherwise I'd be playing him.

Quickedit- We live in a neighborhood with close proximity to eachother, that's why so much trouble is caused.

You keep going back between him just winning and him not being fun to play against. What is it that is making him not fun to play against? Is it just him winning?

1) His ridiculous lists

2) His personality

3)Like I said, he used to not win EVERY game, until he started bringing his ridiculous lists (IIRC he bragged about finding a lot of it online)

4) This expands on #2 he always acts like it was a GREAT game for both sides. No, it wasnt. I got rofl stomped by your guys and took maybe 8 of your models off the board. Then he continues to talk about it, despite us wanting to change the subject.

5) He likes using my dice way too much. Really a minor point, but still.

6) When I don't kill enough of his units he does the shirt bullet thing where he pokes himself and goes "Pading! Patoong!" you know, that thing.

That's really about it. I hate playing him but love the game.

He's leaving for his mormon mission trip in december, and I'd just like to stick it to him before he leaves. I want a vindictive, decisive victory before he leaves. After that I can go back to playing with the people who are fun to play with, and will be willing to play once he leaves.

OK, 6th ed rules, Nob Bikers and prior codex eldar..

Best way to down Nob bikers in 6th is to take out the Painboy first, which then strips FNP from the unit.

In 6th this is pretty easy, as hits go to the closest model. Get positioned so that he is the closest and then hammer him with shots until he dies. He can LOS on a 4+ for each hit IIRC, but he will fail eventually.

High rate of fire weapons are your friend here. Scatter lasers, Shuriken cannons, that kind of thing. Force him to make saves until he fails and dies.

6th ed FNP is 5+ not 4+ like in 5th, which helps, but AP 1-2 weapons no longer ignore it. Gain some/lose some.

He can't use the wound shenanigans from 5th either by equipping them differently, and make sure he's not claiming that they can all LOS, because that is incorrect.

Heavy template weapons work well on Nob Bikers, but i don't think Eldar have much in the way of those. Warlocks with Destructor might suffice.

Dark reapers chew through nob bikers pretty well, though the biker's cover save will still be annoying.

Fire dragon exarchs with dragon's breath flamers will cook Nob bikers over easy. No armour save, no cover save - thank you and have a nice day... Downside is they will probably not kill the whole unit, so somewhat sacrificial.

A Seer and Warlock unit on jetbikes rocking Destructor would be my preferred choice - fight bikes with bikes Zoom over to him and multi-flamer him with psychic death, after gunning him down to size with cannon and scatter laser fire see how he likes that

Heh, fair enough.

I was assuming we were still talking the Old codex as mentioned in the OP.

New codex - Serpent spam. Bombard him friom across the battlefield with ignore cover shieldspam.

Also other dirty tricks, but i don't know the new codex as well as the old one.

All hail Phillius Kellius and his holy eldar murder book!

Jesus christ, when I flipped through the codex at my FLGS I scoffed at it, but now.... I love this new codex. Bladestorm makes my troop choices actually viable now, and the new SL is amazing. WS are so broken, but they will work SOOOOOO well against bikes. Light em up with the SL, hit em with the cannon, then boom shield. I imagine I can neuter the sqaud with 3 WS full of Dire Avengers, then shred them with the avengers, then move on.

Under the previous codex I would try 3x3 scatter laser warwalkers, eldrad (get off guide and doom every turn), and then some small guardian units to act as speed bumps. Put enough wounds on the nob bikers and they will go down. That will be 48 wounds a turn for him to try saving.

Honestly though with him going away and all it would be better to run a unique one off fun game. I would recommend beer hammer subbing the beer for soda/other drink. There are also some cool custom missions out there. Since you don't have the 6ed codex I will assume you don't have any supplements but there are some good stuff on this board and google.

Ew, WAAC Orks? Dem gits need a krumpin.

Nob Bikers aren't that scary. They die like children to Strength 10. So just shoot strength 10 at them, wherever it is your particular list gets S10 from.

Actually there was a lack of S10 in the 4ed codex. D-Cannons (1 platform) and combined fireprisms. There was also the MC in melee. The new codex has 3 new sources. Yay.

as for the nob bikers just shield your scatter walkers with wraithknights and when he gets close krump the gits with your s10 "cheese"

this is all assuming you are using the old dex if you are using the new dex then just spam serpent and a wraithknight=win

If you really, really want to destroy him, ally in some Tau with plenty of markerlights and use them to strip the Nob Bikers of any cover. After that, get, two units of 5 Wraithguard with Wraithcannons in a WS w/ TLK Scatters + HF + Shuricannon to ride up next to them and unload. Should result in about 5 dead Nob Bikers, more if you guide the unit. You could get a D-Cannon support battery or two as well. All that should take out the entire Nob Biker unit in one decisive turn of shooting.
