From lowest ranked to highest ranked.

1.) furies
2.) beasts
3.) lesser daemons
4.) CSM daemon princes
5.) Daemons' daemon princes
6.) greater daemons

Does this seem accurate?

AFAIK, all Daemon Princes were once mortals.

Space Wolves: 3770
Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000

Yes, all Daemon Princes were once mortal.

And some are above most Greater Daemons in the hierarchy.

In the case of the Daemon Primarchs, they are above them all.

I believe that thinking about it as a strict ranking with super clear boundaries is a little too constrictive, especially since you have things like Heralds as well. After all, I would expect Skulltaker to rank higher than more than a few Daemon Princes.

I think the best way to think about it is that each 'classification' of Daemon, rather than be a slot, is more like a spread out section, a range of possible ranks. Daemon Princes, covering the newest and relatively lowliest Prince to the Primarchs themselves cover a very wide band, ranging from being outranked by very powerful Heralds, to being all the way near the tip top of the power structure.

I don´t think Chaos can be organized in a hierarchy. The words "Chaos" and "organization" do not get along.

Anyway, since you asked....

1) Furies. Undivided. They follow no one and are out of the "line of command" is any possible sense. They are feral predators that live in the interstices between the great realms that represent the Chaos Gods.
2) Beasts are like cows. They are out of the line of command too.

3) Little Daemons. The most important of them become Heralds. Particularly powerful Heralds can sometimes be seen as powerful as a Greater Daemon, but I somehow doubt it. The line between Lesser and Greater Daemon is thin, though.

4, 5 and 6) Big Daemons. At this point is really difficult to categorize them. And it is normal for most Daemons to claim to be more powerful than the rest. Daemon Princes are external to the Chaos God, creatures (Champions of Chaos) who have joined it in the Warp, blessed by its power, while Greater Daemons are big chunks of a Chaos God provided with consciousness, intelligence and purpose. A Chaos God could reabsorb a Greater Daemon at any moment. A Daemon Prince arguing with a Greater Daemon seems odd: it would be like arguing with its patron. Or with a son of its god, created by budding.

5) I am not sure what do you mean by a Daemon´s Daemon Prince. If you mean the unit from the Codex Chaos Daemons, they have the same background and represent the same thing than the unit from C:CSM: a Champion of Chaos ascended to Daemonhood. I don´t think "CSM turned Daemons" are more powerful than the rest. Humans can get incredibly powerful when enhanced by Chaos.

Actually, other way around(and even then, open to interpretation). He's only referred to as a Daemon Prince who most often appears as a Lord of Change in 2nd(Chaos Codex) and 3rd editions(he's referred to as both in 3rd, Daemonhunters Codex). Since then, he's only ever been referred to as a Lord of Change.

His status as a Daemon Prince has always been contentious as he's always been referred to as appearing as a Lord of Change.

Well the newer background may well blur the lines but it is quite explicitly stated that he was a LoC first in Codex: Chaos but, people can take their pick with that one.

The Eternity Gate

At the top are chaos gods.

Below them are their greater demons who are shards of the god they represent.

Below them are the numerous lesser demons whose power swells from the chaos gods and range from barley sentient to powerful heralds.

At the bottom are the unaligned warp entities such as furies. They are as much as part of the plane of chaos as the ground on a planet.

Others like demon princes have no hierarchy. They are mortals given power of the chaos gods who they are bound to for eternity. However, they range from warp crazy madman up to the mighty demon primarchs.

The only difference between Codex: Daemon and Codex: Chaos Space Marine daemon princes is who they're hanging out with at the time.

A daemon prince running with a Chaos Warband is most likely a former mortal member of that band(its leader usually), or possibly a much older Prince who is tagging along with them.

Daemon Princes running with a daemonic host will either be an older Prince who has long outlived his former mortal companions or one who has forsaken all his mortal ties and is running with his patron's forces now.

It should also be remembered that there is also a whole sliding scale of lesser warp power/indy daemon prince going on at the same time.
