Finalist in GDUK2013, for the same client as the Warhound Diorama. I think perhaps in hindsight that blue Temple Guard would have worked better, but my tendency is to use neutral, earthy colours as a default...

More shots to come next week, as I'm grabbing photos while waiting for bits of the packing crates I'm building to dry. My God, I'm using a lot of polystyrene sheet at the moment...

Can't wait to see what is going on with the poor guy in the river!

Absolutely amazing! I love the density of the jungle and the consistency of your palette. The flagstones are perfect with the greenish tinge.

My only question is; why the birds are red? The large amount of contrasting colour turns them into the focal point, and kinda pulls the viewer's attention from the central figures which are more similar in hue and tone to the surrounding landscape. But it's a minor quibble, the overl effect is stunning.

Actually, I do have a second question; is the guy in the water turning into piranha chow?

Yes, there are piranhas nibbling on him in the water. They're kinda hard to see now (and harder to photograph). I'll try and get decent shots next week.

I deliberately made the teradons red to lift the piece as a whole. It was very green without them. I was also going to add a few skinks in bright yellow and turquoise to pull the eye around at ground level, but didn't have the time, and the piece was already significantly over budget. No point in doing further work I'm not getting paid for now.

Fair enough, I imagine the skinks would have solved that. I'm still completely in awe of your work, of course. There's so much depth and texture to appreciate, as well as the details.

Amazing detail. Everything looks very natural. I for one like the earth tones.

When I look up I think of the great Waaagh! in the sky.

youre right about the blue, since they sort of blend into the environment at the moment.

either way, it's very nice. good job.

I'm utterly dumbfounded. I thought your Titan was tops.

This though. Just unreal.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

So you entered this in the Golden Demon, not the client, right?

Yeah I entered it. You're only allowed to enter your own work.
To be honest I was very disappointed with the golden demons this year. There wasn't actually enough room to put all the diorama finalist entries on the judging table (being half the size of last year's). I doubt I'd have placed as there were some stunning entries, but I do feel that not everything was given good consideration. And the lighting in the cabinets was truly shoddy for such a dark, dingy room.

Looks awesome, you're right about the poor lighting at games day this year though.

This was a finalist, not a winner?
It's superb. Absolutely love it.

Your work is amazing to be sure, but what struck me as particularly incredible is how you layered the jungle so perfectly. It looks full and lush, yet from different angles you get both a great view and little extra bits best seen from a particular vantage point. I cannot imagine that happened by coincidence, but rather a great deal of planning. Amazing stuff.

Unbelievable! Where can I get some of those modular plants?

What modular plants?

I used a mix of brass etch, plastic aquarium plants, scratch built pitcher plants, tufts and the trees are built over wire armatures.

Thanks for the close-up shots, I was hoping to get a closer look. I love the colour choices and details.
