Does an entire squadron of Piranhas benefit from a single markerlight counter?

It has been a while since I looked at the vehicle squadron rules, so correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe Vehicle Squadrons are Units. In the section description of what Vehicle Squadrons should be a line informing us to treat Vehicle Squadrons identical to how you would treat a unit of infantry. Now there are a few alternative rules to use when it comes to resolving some things against Squadrons, but if it not something addressed by those alternative rules then you fall back to the standard method. It stands to reason if it is normal for an entire unit to be affected then a Vehicle Squadron will also be affected, assuming nothing within the rule that specifically denies it from functioning.

Therefore marker-lights treat the Squadron the same way they treat Units.

Well thats great because for the price of a Hammerhead I can get 3 Piranhas armed with 3 Burstcannons and 6 TL-Pulse Carbines, which is a total firepower output of twenty-four S5 shots, half of which are slightly better than BS3.

Two marketlight counters and half of them become BS5, while the other half becomes BS 4 with re-rolls.

I can only imagine that would destroy any infantry squad I am shooting at. And for 2 markerlight hits I need 4 marker drones ~48 points.
