Pretty much all sold out already. Within like 30 mins of the email being sent out... really feel like they are in many ways shooting themselves in the foot with sales like this where the stock is so absurdly low vs demand.

I like the Death High Ringtail Vixen the most.

Gives me an excuse to get started on the Death High White Speaker.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I'm liking the line too. Have both of them.

I made the decision a while back to stick to the 'no game content, no purchase' rule when it comes to KD stuff.

I've been mostly successful in sticking to it too.

I've given up on jumping through the Poots hoops.

The whole (tits/ass + monsters + artificial scarcity = profit) formula, along with the shipping, customs and handling fees has worn me down.

I'll still play Monster with friends when we have the chance, and will no doubt pick up some of the nicer figures from cheaper sources, but I no longer buy direct.

Almost broke my 'no more resin minis' rule for the Scissor Knight, best figure they've put out in ages.

This is most of what I buy from him no days but I occasionally add non-game stuff in. I like the Death High stuff and want to support the photo resin experiment as if it works out it will really help with production limits.

They're 3d printing some stuff now? I don't know how I missed that announcement. Did they buy a printer, or are they going through a 3rd party?

Not sure but I assume it's outsourced production as unless he's got a 30k printer those print jobs will take 15-20 hours each at a minimum. It was in a BoW interview video with Poots at Gencon. He's trying out the material/process with the Death High line to see how the reception to it is.

He's got his own huge industrial 3d printer or printers (and had to get the floor of their HQ reinforced to get it in if I remember right from the gencon interiews last year) when he talked about doing the fancy table corner things on it

and with 'Till Death' initial release we were getting regular re-stocks of 25 every day or so which felt very much like the were a days worth of production hot off the machine

The last few miniatures I've gotten from Kingdom Death have all been 3d Prints. It looks like their limited resin runs are 3d printed vs casting, which is smart considering it is much less labor intensive. For it to work they would most likely have a one or multiple printers in-house which would allow them to print on demand and not have to stock. From the details of the miniature, the finish and the supports left on them, it looks like a DLP printer. It could be an MSLA (Mask SLA uses LCD instead of DLP projector) but doesn't appear to be SLA. With a DLP/MSLA they can do multiple prints within 1-3 hours depending on the orientation. For example, Hysterical Games uses a Solus which is only about $3400, they won't need 30K to get the quality. The resin doesn't look some I've seen, they call it photo-resin which isn't a term I'm familiar with though. I've heard that DLP LED projectors to refer to photo-polymerize liquid resin as the resin that works with them, but never really heard of anyone particularly calling it photoresin which is how they label it on their website.

Nevermind looks like someone mentioned he got large commercial based models... it definitely isn't EnvisionTEC so be interested to know which of the companies he went with. I'd definitely like to compare prices with the ones we use.

It isn't an EnvisionTEC? The material looks a lot like RC90 and the support structures on the early copies of TDDUP looked like the pattern their slice software makes.

Yeah, it's why I said it was stupid. Would look really sweet though. Or get me banned from my FLGS for having too many exposed nipples.

Having said that however, how cool would something like this be as a demon prince?

Honestly swapping out the lions head to some kinda daemon thing would be pretty cool. or you could do some kinda amazonian thing with giant people running around in like AOS.

SoCal, USA!

"Photoresin" is a marketing/branding term, likely as the process is more akin to poured resin than mass production HIPS plastic. I would not read it as a technical term that specifies process or material.

Photoresins are single liquids that catalyze with UV exposure, so it is fairly different from most other resins that people are familiar with that are typically a part A and B that are mixed in ratio.

They're probably just using "photo resin" because their printer manufacturer or resin supplier calls it that. "Photo" in this case just meaning light, since all of these resins are cured via UV exposure.

EDIT: Ninja'ed! I'm interested in hearing people's experience with these, since it's definitely the future of the hobby for things with runs that can't justify HIPS production.

Originally the pictures do make it seem like RC90 (that is what I use mostly other than HTMV140). When I received the models I have, it does not appear to be the same. It is a much darker shade, browner and less pinkish hue of the RC90. I am not at home to take a picture to compare but this the RC90 color. Looking at them with a jewelers loupe to analyze the layer lines, it is on par but slightly different than the P4 and Vida. I'll have to take a picture with them side by side when I get home.

One of our RC90 Prints.
Spoiler:

It is possible they could be using something else or mixing their own but EnvisionTEC doesn't call their resin photo-resin, they refer to it as UV Curable and refer to the properties that it simulates like ceramic-like, plastic or HIPS equivalent. I guess someone could say it is photosensitive but I try to refer to the actual resin brans like RC Series, ABS Hi-Impact, ABS Flex, E-Rigid but that could just be me. They could be altering the pigment because I've been asked to change colors and when I've been talking with my EnvisionTEC contact about customizing colors for resins, they have been reluctant and instead try to have me move to different versions that already are using those pigments.

That is the thing, you can't find the marketing reference, at least I can't or my google-fu sucks (which is possible). Most companies simply refer to the resin as UV curable. There are a few that call it photo-curable and photo-polymerize resin but that is more in reference to the process that it utilizes to cure the resin. Instead of using an SLA laser to cure the resin, it uses a photo/lcd/led source to cure it. For example, my EnvisionTEC when it slices a model creates hundreds of PNG images that it uses to display layer at a time, curing a layer at a time. In essence, using a photo in which the process refers to the light. But there are few that call that processor refers to it as a photo-polymerize or would call the resin photo-resin.

I did reach out to see if I could find the brand of 3d printers and resin they use. I'm always looking, comparing to ensure we keep utilize the best. And different printers are better for certain things than others so having a good selection is always good.

Poots could have just used the term Photoresin as a generic since a lot of people will associate it with 3d printing and if they don't understand the word resin so he didn't have to have a long explanation for however many interviews he did at Gencon.

That is one reason I'm trying to find out what brand resin they use. Not all UV curable or resins for that matter are equal. I have the stats for various resins from Solus Proto-Resin, Formlabs various resins, and EvisionTECs (Shore D Hardness, Tensile Strenght, Elongation, Flexurial Strength, etc). I've been creating and running a spreadsheet with their specs to compare with HIPS and PVC plastic vs. In some cases, it is better and other cases it isn't but that also depends on the resins, they are close but not quite there without sacrificing a few things. Stronger resins mean fewer details while more detail and accurate resins are about equivalent to castable. But with good SLA/DLP printers one can barely notice a difference between a 100um, 50um, and 25um print unless they are using a jewelers loupe. Some lower-end printers you can tell the difference between 100um and 50um visibly but that vanishes after priming.

Have you tired contacting him? It may take a long time for him to respond, as he's busy and seams to do communication in waves, but I've heard he's pretty open about his process.

Yes I reached out via Facebook and their website. I may try Kickstarter if I don't hear anything back in a couple weeks.

Edit: Guess I'll try Kickstarter since the response from my email was, "
"Thank you for the email. Unfortunately I'm not authorized to answer these questions about our inner workings. Adam is pretty tight lipped about that. I'm sorry My hands are tied on this."

Hello everyone. I apologize that there hasn't been any official update for quite some time. This is 100% my fault. A combination of waiting for critical parts of the project to finish and dealing with some personal family affairs (which happens to us all, unfortunately). None of this is an excuse, and I wouldn't come to the comments without something decisive to share.

The next big update will be Black Friday.

Q: Is the Plastic Game Board shipping in 2018 or was that pushed back also? I know it was its own separate thing and not part of any of the official waves. Any word on that?

A: I plan on resuming work on the game board soon! We learned a ton working on the black knight demo board that we took to gencon. And I've also picked up just about every other game board type thing on the market for research. I am looking forward to giving it my all and am hoping to have a 3D printed prototype by the end of the year.

There will be a halloween sale and there will most certainly be a sale on Black Friday.

Q: Last time you mentioned the Card pack, you were supposed to have it by february 2018, is it still in the works ?

A: We have the card pack for all the reprinted White Box material! Im hoping to organize that before our next sale. (need to ship boxes to respective warehouses etc).

Q: Have you yet decided if you are going to open up the backerkit to allow more addons for backers for wave 4? Or even wave 3, if it is going to be delayed until next year?

A: I am currently unsure if we will open Backerkit again or not. I think I should at the very least, reach out to them and see what is and isn't possible.

Pleased to hear the card pack will be a go, I've probably got about half the content, but being able to get the rest mini free (and thus having extra budget to spend on other minis) is going to be good
