Same here. I only just now found out about the stuff being up for sale, and it's already gone. From now on, feth this limited run, you-only-have-five-minutes-to-get-it crap. Great models, I just wish us normal people could actually have a chance to get it.

It is bizarre isn't it?
"Hello Sir, I have money I wish to give you for that thing."
"I only made a small amout of the thing, it's sold out."
"But, I want to give you money."
"Sorry"
Wut?

He talks about the resin capacity issue in one of the Gen Con interviews, his French caster is at maximum capacity producing the current quantities. It takes 6 months from the time he sends the caster the mini until he gets the final product back for sale and they are limited to a run of 500 per mini in that 6 month period. He has been experimenting with photo resin to see if they can up capacity hence the Death High White Speaker. The French caster has told Poots he’s going to retire if his services are ever no longer required.
He’s been looking for a US caster primarily to do a range of busts he thinks he’s found one and may send them one to do to see how it goes. It maybe released by years end if all works out.
Echoes of Death was limited to a 3,000 unit run 500 for Gen Con and 2,500 for the store. Seems a bit low given there are approx 20,000 backers printed stock might be an issue as the plastic can just be run off the machine.
Ultimately he’s just never going to be able to meet the demand at the current scale that he operates and scaling up may not be viable longer term.

There will be more production, but 3,000 sets for 25,000 backers is thin for a popular item, yet too much of a novelty.
The key take away is that his minimum run is 3,000 units, so if he can project that much demand, he will tool to produce in plastic. Being plastic vs resin / 3d D print, it's easy and cheap to make another 3k, 5k, 10k in the next run.
Also, I strongly suspect that Echoes and the Expansion & Rulebook restock took the slot that was previously reserved for Wave 3. His next slot is next year, which is why the GC is pushed back so far.
The other issue he mentioned re plastic production is that he’s been told by the plastics manufacturer that he must get the majority of his plastic production done this year as they have a large project booked in next year (gaming minis is only a small part of what they do) and he’ll have extremely limited access to plastic production in 2019 so he’s had to concentrate on getting a lot of plastic molding and production done this year ahead of time.
The full interview is here (if I’ve misremembered any details it’s awhile since I watched it and the above is from memory)

Meaning that, if everything doesn't go as planned, Wave 3 and Wave 4 might be pushed back a bit further than we thought.

This is a bit of BS, though. There are so many people capable of the highest quality resin casts that he could easily have a lot more done if he so wished. If one caster is at max capacity at 500 casts, he could simply use two other, and achieve the same high quality. And if the demand is that high that he cannot meet it by outside partners, he could do the casting in-house. Getting a higher quantity of casts is neither a problem nor a challenge. Poots have other motives behind his thought process, which he doesnt want to share publically.
As well as producing good quality casts at the right price his caster has to be somebody he trusts, both not to make extras to sell out of the back door, and also not to leak pictures,
(and he'd only find out things had gone wrong when it was too late. We've seen leaks from the plastics factory before now, at least these were not new concepts)
and after that they've got to be reliable, and able to keep up a steady stream of product without him being bumped by another company that suddenly needs stuff done now for a show or a bazillion casts for a KS
(yes there are contract casters, many of them very good but they do tend to get overwhelmed, delayed and otherwise cause problems by saying yes to too much work)
Casting in house is where he's probably heading to some extent (well 3d Printing anyway now the machines & materials are giving results he's happy with) but given his known control freak tendency if there was resin to supervise he'd end up doing a lot less game design as he added looking over that too

They hand printed over 2300 of the Til Death Do Us Part in photoresin, and have about the same in some of the other plastics and resins, calling it 'artificial rarity' is completely untrue- Considering it's a small team and theyre also trying to produce two dozen expansions for a Kickstarter. This isnt Games Workshop where they can meet demand with a huge staff.
The 'artificial rarity' thing always bugs me because while i'd love an 'order anything he's ever made' in resin in the store, they sell out so quickly he has to choose. This isnt like some studios who made 500 of one bust or miniature and never again for no reason, they still hand cast thousands of resins each time theres a new sale.

As above, I think Wave 2+ took the Wave 3 slot (released yesterday), and Wave 3 is taking next year's Wave 4 slot, with Wave 4 to be resheduled when ready and available.

Other way around. Adam's resin guy hand casts 1,000s and ships them. When they arrive, KD has a sale.

Yeah, I didn't write that, and Adam absolutely could make these things in higher volumes AND keep the quality BUT...I'm convinced that the 'rarity' is absolutely part of his plan and the 'mystique' of the KD line.

Two things. 1, there is already another production of of Echoes of Death and Expansions of Death 1 in the works. Don't buy them off eBay. 2. There is indeed an update brewing. But I want to get a little more headway on dev before I turn my attention back towards it. Thanks!
I enjoyed them quite a bit, but the KD plastics are probably my favorite releases out there. Not as fiddly as Malifaux, but still plenty of pieces to build up like a puzzle.
Standout for me is the Fighter, but the Death High White Speaker is up there too. I only wish she'd been a plastic release, despite the quality of the photoresin cast.
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
My wife has been wanting to do a youtube channel and has been making me record videos of all the crap I purchase and build, so that's been sucking up a ton of my free time.

The 25,000 also isn't counting the who know how many non-backers are trying to pick them up. I've yet to back one of his KS's, due either to lack of knowing it's happening, or not having the funds on hand while the event is going. I love using them for D&D figs though.
Wave 3 got pushed back to 2019, as Adam wasn't ready to produce before his factory had to start another project. Hence, Echoes of Death and Wave 2 reprints to make the best of the slot he had.
I'm assuming production of Wave 3 doesn't start until 1H 2019, for delivery Q3 at the earliest. Wave 4 would be at least 6 months after that, unless Wave 3 is so delayed, and Wave 4 is so far along that he combines the two for a mega-Wave.
