In other news I hear that to make the fuel for the rockets on that weapon the Tau pulped the entire first printing of the upcoming IA book.

Without a doubt. I think it looks great. Love the missile barrage thing.

Not bad at all, but I still rather the Tri-Pulse weapon
Quite better than the Nexus missile, though.

Spoiler:
The heavy rail cannon array comprises two weapons which may be fired simultainously:
-
Heavy rail cannon
Range 120"
Strength D
AP 1
Ordnance 1, Blast (3")
Mass-induction targeting*
-
Cluster shells
Range 36"
Strength 6
AP 4
Apocalyptic Barrage (4), Pinning

*Mass-induction Targeting:
When firing against Super-heavy or Gargantuan targets, roll

The rules for this "suit" are bonkers. It is a gargantuan creature, so safe against poison and snipers, its freaking T9, 10W, 2+/4++ (against shooting), BS2 overwatch. For 600 pts. WTF.
Scabbiethrax is only T9 6W

The Heavyrail Cannon weapon is better than the Nexus systems, but not as good as its default pulse weapon.

The small blast kills it. That limits its targets a lot. I would have preferred a single target weapon than this dumb small blast. The markerlight support goes up extremely high with the railcannon weapon.

It's small blast means it's going to miss way more frequently than it hits super heavy targets.

Also to all those who bitched about it the Ta'unar is getting a price increase. One more reason to now never take it since grav spam can kill it in one turn and its now even more expensive. Ah well I guess we'll have to survive with two Stormsurge spam which is superior in all ways anyways.

I dunno, looks rather ugly to me. This ridiculously huge gun on a pathetically tiny platform and that cluster thing that looks like it just toppled and is in a process of falling apart is too much anime even for Tau.
Also I'd have to agree - the default weaponry is still simply better in most situations.

It's small blast means it's going to miss way more frequently than it hits super heavy targets.

Will barely miss more than a single shot weapon against Super heavies. Vs a Knight/Wraithknight, which are pretty much the smallest Super heavy/Gargauntuans, the blast will land on the base somewhere between 58% and 72% of the time (variance is due to the oval base, 58% would be if the base was a circle with 105mm diametre, 72% if it was 170mm diametre), when taking into account the BS 4 of the Tau'na and the 1.5" of leeway gained by the blast marker. With the use of one markerlight, this goes up to between 72% and 83%. A single shot weapon will hit 66% of the time at BS 4 and 83% at BS 5 with a markerlight. So a blast is slightly less accurate than a single shot, but only against a target as small as a Knight. Against any larger Super heavy, like a Baneblade, it becomes more accurate with the same investment. I don't see your logic.

Your right. I was thinking about this more in the shower. You know combined with its rockets I think I might see this as my default gun for the Ta'unar. Glad I ordered one already. The rockets really sell this with apocalyptic barrage 4 since they allow it do basically fire on both modes of the default pulse ordinance array at the same time and at any targets I want. Yeah it's not as strong as the barrage mode of the pulse array but it's still potent anti-infantry firepower to stop most targets. The more I think about it the more I like it. It's also the coolest looking weapon for it.

More like "massively over-nerfed finally". People may have complained enough to get it nerfed, but as long as 750 point turbolaser Warhounds exist it's not a justified nerf.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The gun itself looks cool, but the way it's attached to the frame is what's lacking. I'd rather a big generator thing on the opposite shoulder than a cluster missile launcher; a railgun of this size feels like it should be significant enough to take up both shoulders.

EDIT: Might look good if it replaces one of the arm mounts, though.

The Dice Gods care not from whence the blood flows, only that it does

Even with your best buffs, a dice roll can pan out badly, so mithering about having to face one is a bit pointless really IMO.

Man... if people are salty about the Taunar getting nerfed, the salt will flow when the Y'vahra's cost increases. That is the real OP model for Tau at the moment.

I own one and feel guilty every time I field it. There is no way it goes to print at its current experimental point cost.

LOL, it needs a points hike. Anything that takes 40 Lascannon HITS to down for 600 points is just stupid. Math: T9, so Lascannon wounds on 4+, suit has 4++ against shooting, so...40 hits=10 unsaved wounds.

If Lascannons are your go to weapon for dealing with Titan level enemies (and I mean Titan, not Imperial Knight) then you're doing something wrong.

Besides, you're better off with Grav as you're wounding on 2's.
