How do you guys use Huron? I like using him as a cheap source of MoD (seeing as Angryman is like 60 points more). MoD is my favorite warlord trait as I love infiltrating spawn within range of targets I need shut down quickly. I normally end up throwing him in a land raider with either 3 mutilators, some terminators, or some generic chosen/CC geared CSM. However it just doesn't seem to work well for him. Is there something I am overlooking? The lack of a mark on him Is just a severe detriment to me as I run primarily Nurgle or Khorne for my assault units. Am I handling him right and he is just a pain to field effectively or am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

You are right. He is a great source of infiltrating chaos units. Obliterators are also fantastic infiltrators as they get you great side shots and especially if you go first, you can set up some killer alpha strikes.

I've placed Huron in two spots. 1. Attached to a unit of 3 Nurgle Obliterators. 2. Attached to a large squad (12+) of chaos space marines. He makes the CSM fearless which helps mitigate a serious weakness they have.

MoD doesn't work on Spawn. MoD works on Infantry units. Spawn are Beasts.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I would use Huron's MoD trait on stuff like 20 man blob of berzerkers or cc noise marines. Then put Huron with another blob. Oblierators and Terminators work well too, but I'd rather deep strike the termies or have them charge out of a land raider.

A lot of people may not like deep striking, but it will get around servo skulls, which I see a lot of people doing with the new Codex:Inquisition. Actually infiltrating units may not be as effective at all anymore come to think about it.

I play MTO style chaos armies and so all my suggestion while be under the assumption that you are coming to your opponent and coming hard.

Oblits are awesome infiltrating. They can get side shots if the opponent closes gribbles at you you get to 3x heavy flamer something.

If you can manage to get a good ruin in the opponent's deployment zone noise marines can put some serious hurt and stick around for a while causing annoyance.

A big plague marine unit can be amusing to infiltrate into the opponent backfield. If you play the Relic it is like saying; I get 3 pts, good luck.

Infiltrating berzerkers is one of the few ways to actually make foot zerkers work at all. You kind of need other more dangerous stuff to draw fire though.

If you play that infiltrating IC give infiltrate to their units and bring them with then you open up a lot of options and multiply the effectiveness of any of these strategies.

I like Huron. I take him primarily for the infiltrating, but there's a LOT going for him for his price tag.

And then Huron runs into a 34 point Inquisitor with 3 servo-skulls... How does he look then?

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

Especially considering every army but Chaos, Orks and Nids is gonna have that gak - 34pts to shut down infiltrating, scouting etc... it's absolutely nothing.

GW's just cut out like a third of the remaining strategy in their game.

Was *this* close to selling my chaos crazies today, thanks for showing me they can still do neat gak. I already wanted to use Huron, but everything that isn't his infiltration ability had slipped under the radar

To completely shut down infiltrate and scout you will need 68 pts, ie 6 servo skulls. 3 will only shut down one completely.

Otherwise it is not like every army is an IoM army (the ones that best make use of this). Some of those armies were xenos armies; and a rare few are tyranid, CSM, and CD.

Huron in and off himself is actually a pretty good value HQ. The only negative is he doesn't unlock cult troops.

The same.

Huron's infiltration can still be useful even if you're not just running guys straight forward. They allow you to go first and still set up (largely) last. It's like having free initiative seizing. It is also useful for putting down ranged support units after your opponent deploys, and you can still outflank with infiltration.

Plus, servo skulls have nothing to do with all the rest of the things huron brings to the table.

I run a Huron list with him in a Land Raider with 4 PM terminators of Khorne 3 combi-melta and a combi flamer. With the infiltrate I just use the unit to run disruption and on its own it's fairly capable of holding a flank.
