First time combining my Tau and Space Marine forces in a tournament scene. Could use any input on improvements, changes, etc. Thanks ahead of time

White Scars
HQ: Chapter Master: artificer, Thunder Hammer, Combi-Grav, Shield Eternal, Bike, Digitial Weapons, Auspex (275)

Troops
5 Bikes: 2 Grav-Guns, 1 Combi-Melta (150)]

5 Bikes: 2 Grav-Guns, 1 combi-Melta & Attack Bike w/ Multi-Melta (205)

6 Bikes: 2 Plasma Guns, 1 Combi-Melta (171) (did not have any more Grav-Guns to put on the models)

10 Scouts: Camo-Cloaks and combi-melta, bolters (140)

Heavy:
Thunderfire: 100
3 Devastator Centurions: grav amps/cannons and missle launcherss (290)

Tau:
Commander: Shield Generator, Stim Injector, C/C Node, MSS, Iridium Suit (185)

Troops: 13 Kroot w/ Snipers (91)

Elite: Riptide: EWO/Velocity Tracker, Ion. (210)

Heavy: Sky Ray w/ Blacksun & Disruption Pod: (131)

FORT: AEGIS LINE

Plan is to bubble wrap the Thunderfire and Sky ray with Kroot behind the Aegis to start. Bikes/Chapter Master run up field to cause havoc. I put Combi-melta's on the Bike Sargents for additional punch on vehicles (I do not roll 6's all that much w/ Gravs).

Tau Commander is there to bounce between the Riptide and Centurions. If I need to move the Centurions fowards then the Commander will stay with them and tank/provide buffs.

SM Scouts will either combat squad and outflank. Or stay as one unit and outflank (will depend on scenario).

I was under the impression that only battle brothers benefitted off each other's rules? And seen as tau and space marines are not battle brothers then your commander will have to effect on the centurions....

You need to check up on the rules before you post.

Space Marines and Tau ARE battle brothers and so DO benefit from each others special rules and psychic powers.

On the list I like it but I would prefer to see a squad of Broadsides rather than the Skyray as at the moment you have only one vehicle which will get destroyed very quickly.

EDIT: Also the Commander NEEDS the PENC. It is the best piece of wargear in the tau codex.

Take khan and bikers with grav and the new stupid tau formation where when you take 6 broadsides and a riptide they all get tank hunters free. If GW just wants to sell at all costs, clearly we should win at all costs.

as a bonus, give them all interceptor and skyfire, and your bases are covered.

Cool thank you for the response! I forgot the PENC completely! Thought about using broadsides... would just hate to have those buggers run off the board if I loose one And my Tau love to run away!

Why are you taking Scouts, especially with a combi-melta? Most people take scouts because they don't have scoring infantry otherwise, but you have access to both Kroot and Fire Warriors.

Not a big fan of only having a single vehicle in a list either.

Don't be too sorry, it's not too big of a deal and the other guy was basically an donkey-cave over something so small.

Can you take 2 Troop choices in your allied detachment (thought for some reason you can only take 1). Because if I can take 2, FW's or more Kroot are defintely happening!

I'm pretty sure you're limited to one troop (I'd check the BRB on that as I'm not sure and AFB) but I still don't think you need the Scouts. At worst you could bulk up the Kroot if you want more Infantry scoring models.

Thank you all for the help!!

Put Broadsides in, taking out the Skyray. And will either add another squad of Kroot (or increase them) or a squad of Fire Warriors. (Took out the scouts)

copying and pasting from another thread, gonna have to clean this up and just make it a standard template somewhere, and start spaming it every time someone puts a Velocity tracker on an iontide.

BS3 options with skyfire: AV12 (before Jink)

Iontide = str7 AP2 x3 = 1.5 hits, .5 HP lost
broadisde (single) = str7 AP4 x4 = 3 hits, 1 HP lost
MP/MP crisis suit = str7 ap4 x4 = 2 hits, 2/3 HP lost
Skyray = awesomesauce
BurstTide (regular) str6 ap4 x8 = 4 hits 2/3 HP lost
BurstTide (nova) str6 ap4 x12= 6 hits, 1 PEN
Quad gun str7 AP4 x4 = 3hits, 1HP lost

BS 5 Quad gun = 4hits (*assuming), 1 and 1/3rd HP lost

just saying Aun'Va is saddened everytime a commander puts skyfire on a iontide. They are much better suited to anti infantry roles. EWO = good great, don't deepstrike terminators anywhere I can see them, VT = not a good choice on them, compared to any other option listed. Note the broadside up there is just a single broadside.

broadside x3 without skyfire: 12 shots = 3 and 2/3 hits, 1.22222whatever fraction that is, of a HP lost.

STILL BETTER THAN AN IONTIDE.

just saying

Also you can get into the psycology of forceing your opponent to Jink and just look at the number of hits. Once again the iontide is not that great IF we look at more hits = more likely to cause a jink.

RAWRR!

Except that skyways are one hit wonders... Great if you're against a flier and that's it, but if there's more than one vehicle, not worth it
