Please note this does not have to be current edition.
For example: mine is the holy orb of antioch from the last black templars book as it was incredible and always made me laugh. If only they'd included the killer bunny......

Useful: Adamantine Mantle (old dexes)
"If I could have anything in real life": Power fist/klaw (who doesn't want to be able to punch a tank in half?)

Flamers. I love flamers.

Guess I should quantify that. Even before 6th they were a pretty good way to help stack wounds on enemy units in pretty good numbers (especially if you tank shock that unit so they're all piled up in a tight blob). With 6th they're even better because of Wall of Death.

Besides, who doesn't lighting their foes on fire?

Mind shackle scarabs for the utter troll factor.

Anything haywire as opponents always forget about haywire. Storktek hooooooooo!

Eternal shield. EW? Yes please! What was that Mr MC? You're making a special tickle attack, awwww how cute!

But most of all - the simple everyday jump pack. Because most of my lists and tactics with BA would cease to function without them.

Shield eternal. Definatley a must take. Losing your leader to insta gib stinks. For my tau the puretide chip gives a ton of options, and for orks deffrollas. Or power klaws. Its a tie.

Sheild Eternal/That damn buff chip from the Tau Dex are likely the most useful/powerful.

If I could own something in RL...honestly, I'd go with a functional suit of power armor I could actually use...because of reasons
Failing that, imagine taking a bolter to target practice!

In-game? Powerfists continue to be useful and reasonably reliable.

I would take sammael's gear in a split second. Easily the coolest wargear in the game.

Gothic Jetbike that looks like a minature battleship? Check.

AP2 Ravenword that makes spooky sounds and is an absolutely black sliver of a meterorite? Check

Adamantine Mantle of pimpness? Check

Artificer Armor of continued and extended pimpness? Check

Iron Halo? You know it!

Plasma cannon? Duh. Backup twin linked storm bolters and bolt pistol? Of course.

He's got an awesome set of kit. I'm jelly. I mean, dude backflipped out of an exploding Thunderhawk and dropped into the saddle of Corvex, Supercross Style. That's pretty rap-metal.

Lightning Claws, they look plain badass and are great in duels. Also, good ol' Combi-Bolters and Reaper Autocannons, since I love having TL weapons.

Added Sonic Blasters for the amount of firepower they can dish out, and Blastmaster for the evil S8 AP3 Blast.

Funny fact in fantasy the elves have a piece of wargear called the cloak of beards (it causes fear to dwarves).

I agree with a previous post that Flamers are great. In fact, a cursed flamer used to kill friend and foe and an entire city? Yeah. Burning Brand of Skalathrax! S4 AP3 Torrent flamer. My buds at the FLGS hate this thing, as it's so easy to abuse. Jump pack, great! Get in there and flame some! Flying Daemon Prince? Vector Strike then flame away, don't even need the Heldrake.

Chaos is the only sanity left.

Favourite? I'd have to go with the holy Boltgun, and all its variants. Bolt Pistols, Kraken Bolters, Stormbolters, Tigrus Patterns, Umbros, Ferrus Umbros, Heavy Bolters, Hurricane Bolters, Avenger and Vulcan Mega-Bolters. Gimme it all.

That said, if I had to choose IRL, it'd have to be my own Tau Battlesuit. One that slots into the next suit up. I'd have a set of Pathfinder Recon Armour that a machine puts more plates onto to make Combat Armour. Then that would slot into XV-02 Pilot Battlesuit that Longstrike wears. Then into an XV-8 or XV-9 with various weapon loadouts. The Xv-8 would get more equipment added with make it an XV-86, XV-87 or XV-89 (those are the Forgeworld variants right?). Or an XV-8-05 or XV-88. Finally into an XV-104 and then more gear added to make it and VX-107.

And then a Manta.

IRL I would love O'R'alai's battlesuit. That thing can take out entire armies, and is amazing.
