I've seen some passing mention of it and people saying it's a number one bad A. What's the story on it.

5 screamers with 3 heralds on disks. Likely to get forwarning. One with Grimoire, giving them a 2+ rerollable invulnerable save.

its basically rambo, chuck norris, bruce lee, jackie chan, (um, die hard guy). Stallone, that paladin you saw from that game once (yes, the one that singlehandedly kicked all the bad dudes assests), riding on the back of giant luna wolves aided by the spirits of the wood elf forest with giant axes made of living flame or ice.

THEN we get to the rest of it.

Bruce Willis.

But yea, they already sum'd it up with the screamers and heralds on disks with all the goodies. It's right up there with some other lists for being a general unpleasant sight to see on the table.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Basically a maxed out squad of screamers with maxed out tzheralds on discs all with maxed out ML so they can roll on divination to try and get forewarning for a 4+ invulnerable save on their squad and then one of them has an exalted reward to swap out for the grimoire of true names which increases a units invul by 2 on a 3+ so they can turn that 4++ into a 2++ and since they are daemons of tzeentch they can reroll saving throws of 1 which effectively makes it a rerollable 2++, then slap on greaters and lessers to give the heralds some etherblades for ap2 cc goodness and take an exalted loci to get all those ML 3 psykers s6 on their flickering fire that is most likely prescienced and is ignoring cover since divination is the most stupid thing to ever hit this game, and then they will most likely have a fateweaver sitting in reserves all game thanks to scriers gaze which is another div power and use him just for the ability to reroll the grimoire fail and the warpstorm incase they make one of their psykers explode or they decrease their invul save.

The story on it? One of the dumbest things to be in 40k. A nearly unkillable deathstar that moves very fast (jetbike status), and this is coming from a Daemon player.

I for one, under any circumstance, will never field this list. I feel bad enough having the 2++ rerollable on Fatey.

"For eleven hundred years, I have fought and I have seen the darkness in our galaxy. I have seen the vileness of the alien and the heresy of the mutant. I have witnessed the sin of possession. I have seen all the evil that the galaxy harbours, and I have slain all whose presence defiles the Emperor. I have seen what you will see. I have fought what you must fight, and I have slain what you must slay... so fear not and be proud, for we are the sons of Sanguinius, the protectors of Mankind. Aye, we are indeed the Angels of Death."

I've heard nuclear bombs are effective against screamerstars.

It seems like a fully kitted screamstar as I've read about here would take quite a few points, leaving the rest of the army weak in say a 2,000 point game, especially if Fateweaver is thrown in.

So, lots and lots of cheese with extra cheese on top and an extra side of cheese.

So, why aren't they on top of more tournaments?

Screamerstars are usually ~500-700 pts. They are defined by their large number of psychic powers (they are trying to roll Forewarning) so they have reasonable shooting/buffing/maledictions, 2++ rerollable, and jetbike movement. They also have armour bane attacks and deal decent damage in melee.

The best way to tackle one is to either ignore it (splitting your units across the board so it has to waste time boosting around) and kill everything else. Being orks you actually have the single best response to it which is tarpit it (bikers and a unit of boyz will trap it all game long).

The new super heavy walker will do a number on it if it gets into CC but that is not necessarily easy.

Honestly if your playing pure orks against someone playing that level of list you are really at a major disadvantage and will need to be a much much better player than them or a much luckier roller. You may need to have a discussion with your opponent if this is supposed to be a "friendly" game.

BTW if the grimoire fails and the screamers end up with a 5++ then hammer them HARD. If you take out fatey early you should get that failed grimoire...well if your opponent isn't crazy lucky.

Other strategies revolve around playing around your opponent to the mission and requires detailed info about the terrain, board, mission, and army lists. I would check out some of Jy2's batreps as he has a few that give good examples of taking on deathstars.

The problem is that unless the grimore fails you can't really do a lot to them which sucks.
