So I'm aware that this is totally my own choice and members here can't decide for me - partly this is just asking around and another part is me just thinking out loud.
I've got a small amount of old epic models from years back when I first got into wargaming. Most would have to be paint stripped and some repaired (never a good painter and some models have suffered some damage). In general its not in bad condition. I've also got the rules somewhere and a few of the tokens (I think I've even got stuff from the Titan Legions period).
Is there still a market to shift this kind of stuff without it sitting on ebay for months or leaving me selling it for vastly under what it should go for (anyone got any references I could use for estimating its value?).
I also have some imperial Battlefleet Gothic models. These are more current and likely easier to sell and whilst I know that BFG isn't dead in the community chances are I'm just not going to use it. and could put some money toward some Firestorm Armada games (which might get at least some table time).
Trading side has anyone got any useful hints if I do decide to sell. Good pictures and such I can take care of; its more estimating postage and suitable postage methods (UK side).
I don't normally like selling off hobbies which is why I've held onto them for ages; however I'm slowly warming to the fact that its just sitting and gathering dust. I don't imagine I'll get a huge return for these, but a little would be nice if I did decide to sell it on.

Well there's still a market for Epic stuff. Just do a search for whatever you have and see how it's doing on ebay. Some stuff will be harder to get rid of, like regular tactical marines and ork boys - the kind of stuff you get in droves from the starter sets - unless you make it a good deal. Other things that are rarer can be highly sought after. I've been building up a space marines force, and stuff like titans, terminators and the newer thunderhawk gunships for example all go for good amounts. If you want a proper evaluation of your stuff you could post it over on taccom, which is the main Epic site these days.

Just bear in mind that the price you see on Ebay is not necessarily the price that the item sells for. There seems to be an element of 'oh it's OOP so that means $$$' mentality with some of the prices. I am a fairly regular Ebay Epic buyer and I see the same sellers trying to sell their Epic stuff for huge amounts and it simply doesn't sell. A recent example springs to mind of a Fulgrim mini that some chap has optimistically listed for £19.99 - it hasn't sold for that (I paid £6 for mine and thought that was a lot, I have seen them go for less) but the guy has kept it up there for months now at that price. Because for a few months it was the only Epic Fulgrim model being listed, one might type it into the Ebay search and think that is the going rate. I guess with all the free insertion and relisting stuff the chap can just keep it up there indefinately in the hope some mug will bite.
Tyranids and Squats seem to suffer the most from the 'optimistic pricing' mainly because they are by their nature, much rarer. Not that rare though!

Aye I've seen that on a couple of models - though at present the only ones that tend to go for insane high are the old Deamonette and seeker models.
Most others I'd expect to take a loss compared to new prices. Fair price is really what I'm after.
I'll check out the site you mentioned tgjensen

Don't know if this has ANY bearing at all....
In the old Imperial Armor III (the tau one) book, there were content sections playing games from the campaign in Normal 40, Epic and BFG.
In the new book just released a few months ago, the Epic section was gone. All of it.
However, the BFG section was still there, even edited a bit (no content or rules changes).
Does this mean they will bring back BFG?
Don't know.
But this clearly shows they place the epic content from that book to be less important than the BFG content.
Oh, and on ebay, there is a "sold auctions" flag you can check when looking at things if you want to see what stuff actually sells for - because just as the other poster commented....a lot of the asking prices are absurd

For postage it all depends on that you want to do, the more you sell of at once, the more shipping will be. For BGF the USPS small flat rate box (which ships for $5.80) can fit up to four Imperial Navy Cruiser and is great for small lots. As for epic the same size should work just fine.
As for what sells:
- NIB sell quickly and you will make your money back if not give you some profit
- Unbuilt will see a lot of bids (and can sell for well over $100 in the case of a battle ships)
- Multiple of ships (i.e. 3 or more, helps if they are all painted the same or unpainted)
- Falchion escorts and Forgeworld models see a lot interest
- Eldar sell well and nids will more often then not see bids
- auctions tend sell faster then BIN
for a quick pricing (per ship)
A Escorts= $2.50-$5.00 ( the Falchions $7.50-$10.00)
Light Cruiser = $10.00-$15.00 (for the Imperial Dauntless) if you are talking about the two Eldar forgeworld light cruisers $40.00-$75.00
Cruisers= $10.00-$25.00 (plastic, metal, and fleet will play a part)
Battleships= $50.00+
that is just a dirty pricing I use when I am placing a value on a lot I am interested in, hope that helos

Thisd can be true, but then it might not.
I buy old SPI and Avalon Hill boardgames from time to time. I have seen some titles go unsold at base price of under$20 and miss the sale because I didnt place any bid but watched and two or three weeks later an identicle item runs into a bidding war that raises the price over $130. I ended up buying an unpunched very rare boardgame for $24 that normally goes for $150 or more, and it wasnt mistitled or mislabelled.
Ebay is about luck of the draw. squats can sell for a lot, I watch the price form time to time because I own a fair few in pristine unpainted condition.I have never placed mine on auction yet though. It would be as wrong to say that rare gaming stuff wont make a good price as it is to guarantee a going price for it. jmy advice to sellers is, set a reserve or better yet a high opening bid that you will settle for. If it sells it sells at a price you will be happy to let it go at, and if you are lucky it will sell for more, then again it might not sell and you just get the listing fees to account for.
