We are entering our third season of a local 40K league, currently consisting of 32 other players. I played Dark Eldar in the 2012 season then Chaos Space Marines in the 2013 season. This time around, I wanted to put my Chaos Daemons on the table - along with an allied detachment of Chaos Space Marines.
To keep track of my progress I wanted to include battle reports for each game during this season. But unlike my usual style of turn-by-turn batreps I wanted to present them here in more of a narrative format ... questions and comments are welcome.
Be'lakor ( warlord )
Kairos Fateweaver
Pink Horrors ( 10 )
Pink Horrors ( 10 )

I'm not familiar 100% with Be'lakor's data slate but does he have to be the warlord? If not you may want to change that to Kairos so he can get the reroll on the warp storm table unless of course its purely for the narrative campaign.

He is higher leadership than the other Greater Daemons. In this case, he probably has to be the Warlord because the Black Mace Daemon Prince is there as well.

Game 01 versus Adepta Sororitas with allied Imperial Guard

Four Sister of Battle units in Repressors

War Zone Trait = Non Applicable

"...like some unholy trinity, Be'lakor stood before the opposition with Kairos at his left and R'hmetis at his right - at the trio's flanks were the pair of Tzeentch Daemon Princes, Sepesat and Uhdras. In one swift gesture by their Warlord, the winged minions took to the skies and advanced towards the Witch Hunters - powers conjured from the Warp struck heavily upon the machines of the Imperium, but their defenses held up ... except for an Exorcist tank - Be'lakor manipulated a second Exorcist tank and had it fire upon the first, crippling the Sororitas vehicle..."
"...the Imperium forces offered very little in return, as their weapons were either too short on range or could not hit the flying monstrous creatures..."
"...the daemon's second wave included two units of Pink Horrors arriving from the warp behind enemy lines, while Sepesat Uhdras & R'hmetis continued their pursuit of cracking open the opposition's tanks and exposing the passengers within - magical flames and beams of energy were not enough though ... their brute strength however was just enough to complete their tasks, as they smashed into the vehicles..."
"...the combined efforts of Sisters and Guardsmen tried to evenly exchange the damage they received, returning fire from small arms and the few weapon mounts that were still intact..."
"...in the moments ahead, both sides had reinforcements arrive to the battlefield - and arcane powers clashed with modern technology ... but Be'lakor and his followers maintained the upperhand as time slipped by ... until only Saint Celestine remained, having returned to field of battle after previously being slain - her final demise however was delivered to her from R'hmetis and his Black Mace..."
Thanks for the game, John S !

// that \\
Because of the higher Leadership value, Be'lakor must be the Warlord. I don't mind though as his Warlord trait isn't that bad, and with having Eternal Warrior he won't be an easy one-shot to give up Slay The Warlord.
Just a couple of key synergies that helped in this game:
01 ) for starters, the mission and deployment itself = the Cultists did nothing more than walk on to the table on turn three and control the Daemon's objective, while all other units were sent forward to deny control of the Sororita's objective - this task was further improved by having the Portal Glyph inside the opposition's deployment area ... three units had arrived during the five turns it was active.
02 ) the Grimoire's buff was used on several different Daemon units during the game e.g. = expecting the Vendetta to arrive, the Grimoire was used on the Heldrake ... the Grimoire was then used again on one of the Tzeentch Daemon Princes while it was in close combat with the squadron of Penitent Engines ... and again during turn five on a unit of Pink Horrors that were attempting to control the Sororita's objective marker.
03 ) an Invisible CSM Daemon Prince with Black Mace is just a terrifying enough entity to ( not ) see on the table :-)
04 ) the usage of Puppet Master was a big pivot throughout the game, turning friendly units against each other: to name just a few ... Penitent Engine vs Guardsmen ... Vendetta vs Repressor ... Exorcist vs Exorcist ...

Oh the BRB Warlord rules haha! Sorry Ork player here not used to having too many different leadership values.
Interesting list I really do like the addition of Be'lakor as I think hes is appropriately costed for what he brings.

Why is Be'Lakor the warlord? I think that Fateweaver is better as your warlord. I don't play Daemons so I might be mistaken.
jy2's Daemons are quite... pesky. The lists do look very similar, and I have been able to experience his build first hand. Check out his batrep of his Daemons vs. my O'Vesastar if you want to check out his similar Daemons list in action.

I believe if you take Be'lakor in the Daemon detachment he has to be the Warlord due to higher LD.

I see... It would be better IMO if he was with the CSM, and then Fateweaver and LOC were the 2 Daemons HQs. I don't play Daemons so I'm not totally sure if thats a good idea, but its just a thought.

Be'lakor in the allied detachment means I have to give up the Black Mace Prince. And not having Kairos as the Warlord isn't that big of a deal - the only thing I am missing is the ability to reroll the Warp Storm table, which is not that big of an issue ... even when Nurgle shows his ugly head in the storm.

Be'lakor and his Court quickly took to the skies before the first wave of Drop Pods reached the surface - emerging from them were three units of Terminators, escorted by a Wolf Lord and Rune Priest. Be'lakor, Kairos, and Sepesat remained close together for support, while Uhdras advanced up the left fkank - R'hmetis meanwhile, with images in his head of Prospero in flames, had his own agenda and raced forward towards the unit of Long Fangs and Grey Hunters...
...reinforcements arrived shortly after for both sides of the battle - for the Daemons it meant two units of Pink Horrors and the Heldrake, for the Space Wolves in meant two more Drop Pods transporting two more units of Grey Hunters. The Heldrake, first suffering two hits from the Vengeance Weapon Battery, destroyed the unit of Long Fangs - but became wrecked in the process as the Daemon within acted against the flyer. R'hmetis unleashed his fury on the Grey Hunters, as his Cousins discovered their powers were near useless with the Rune Priest being present...
...Be'lakor, Kairos, and both Daemon Princes move to a safer distance - their powers collectively continue to be thwarted by the Rune Priest. Grey Hunters unleashed round after round of Bolter shells at the Pink Horrors, and weapon systems on the Drop Pods helped clean up the rest - until at last there were none. The Fire Raptor's arrival brought with it pain and destruction for Sepesat and Uhdras - but not before the Daemon Prince was able to open the Portalglyph...
...With each passing moment, R'hmetis continued to show no mercy as units of Terminators move in to assist taking down the Dark Lord. But their efforts would only be noted as heroic though - by the day's end R'hmetis single-handedly eliminated the Grey Hunters, two supporting teams of Wolf Guard Terminators, the Wolf Lord, and the Rune Priest. Cultists advanced unchallenged as the number of opposing threats began to diminish, and a supporting unit of Pink Horrors emerged from the Warp - both were able to take control of their intended objectives. The fragmented remains of the Space Wolves however would not go without a fight - closing efforts were made to dispatch the Horrors and Cultists from their locations, but both held on until the very end...
Thanks for a great game, Dan !
