This is a groundbreaking update! The Vostroyan 104th Mechanized have seen their first bit of combat!

The FLGS had a 500pt combat patrols tourney this evening (I was working so I only made it for the last round) and the Firstborn valiantly faced dreaded Chaos Space Marines!

There were some CP FOC rules with wound limits, armor limits, and painting requirements, so I didn't exactly have a lot that met those standards (LRBTs, ogryn, Roughriders, Vendetta were all out ), but it went okay.

List:
PCS with flamer and missle launcher
Infantry Squad
Infantry Squad with heavy bolter and flamer lead by a priest with an eviscerator in a Chimera
Armored Sentinel Squad (3) with 2 autocannons and a lascannon

Basic strategy: Chimera on one flank, sentinels on the other, PCS holding the gunline infantry squad

Hero of the night: Priest with eviscerator as he mowed down CSMs like grass in CC.

The game finished on turn 5, and I ended up loosing by 1 VP. Not so bad for my first game running IG...

Anyways, that's what I was doing instead of painting

One thing I am particularly proud of is that none of my troops failed any morale tests! No retreating for the Firstborn!

I did! My opponent was quite the sportsman. He had played IG for many years and reminded me of a few helpful things thoughout the game. Awfully nice for a corrupted traitor

seeing a single model holding out for so long is the essence of fun i think...

i do plan on having a game in the future...the things holding me from doing so...haveing no force fully painted to attend a game...with painted minis done by others or even with grey´s i wont game...so...i am for now stuck...it is my personal code of honor...only field painted units...

Planning on having a game anytime soon?

I'd be up for it! We actually might be visiting Germany here soon. Someone tipped off my wife to some uber-sweet maternity/baby clothes store down in Deutchland (the wife is 4+ months pregnant with our first ) So I might be able to swing in the friendly game!

wow!!!! well that deserves a cigar! will you be getting a small peek as to what you will receive? or will you be having the last surprise that is possible in the world? both my sons were surprise gifts...we didn´t let the doc tell us what it might be...

i wish you all the luck in the world! too bad that your dear wife will be having that birth in summer...some say a summer birth is good for the kid...a sunny spirited kid...but to tell you the truth... you wife will soo feel like a whale and when sweating in the summer heat...the least she will be think is..."ah...thank good i wont be giving birth in the cold winter...."
and believe me...we had both ends... my first in february...and the second in june...so...^^

Yeah, we have our next ultrasound in December and (if the little one cooperates) we'll know what we're having.

So I have been adding details to one of the LRBTs and have gotten to the point where I need to decide about unit markings.

I'm thinking something big on the side of the turret like this: (sorry for the pixel-iness)


And then a Vostroyan V on the front left track guard and a tank number on the right.

Thoughts?

Why not take the V decal from the Baneblade Transfer sheet, then once it is cured with micro set (or whatever your preferred decal curing technique) Then super-imposing the numbers over top?

i like the general idea! looks very good to me... and if you have those decals or could make your own...i´d do that!

I do have a baneblade transfer sheet, but I'm not a huge fan of water transfer decals. The Vostroyan V is the easy part of the logo (especially now that I have a micron pen!) so I think I will just freehand the whole thing.
