Here's a pic of the completed units with command/sniper elements at the top and two platoons of troops:

I have the third platoon to paint (currently WIP), 4 Servitors to sculpt/paint and an Astropath to sculpt/paint and the army will be complete ...

... Roll on 2024 so I can finally get this project finished (before I start the next one ).

This army is purely infantry for display... however, I have plans to build some vehicles at a later date but I am still in the process of deciding which design subject to use... I'm leaning towards wheeled vehicles but it is not set in stone yet .

Yep . There was always going to be a third platoon (A full company of a command section and three platoons).

I also need four servitors and two astropaths to finish units that have been started... but I need to sculpt those first . Then... the army will be finished.

There will be other projects but I always wanted this one to be around the 100 trooper mark and I think I'm about 120 (ish) so I am at the limit. I want to build a nice display for this army and put it on show in the house... so I can't have it any bigger because we just don't have the space.

Just for information, the latest Kickstarter has been started; this time for the Engineseer, Thor, Air Advisor and Artillery Advisor (plus a big robot that I didn't sculpt):

I was hoping those figures would come. Just wish we'd see the other vox operators (standing).

I'll talk to Chris and see what's happening with them .

+++EDIT+++

Chris didn't know which ones they were so I have sent him pix to get things moving again ...to his knowledge, he hasn't cast them yet so he's going to do some digging on Monday (15th Jan) to see if he can find them and look at casting them up . If all is well, I'll ask if they can go straight in the shop, rather than you having to wait until a new Kickstarter .

Hey that's great if Chris can find them and get them in production. I think you did three if my memory is correct. I'm after about ten I reckon. I hope this comes off. Thanks Inso. Love your work mate.

Something new for the "OLD" army, the GW plastics at the front of this blog ...

Old soldiers never die... just like army projects . These are going to be Bullgryns (5 with maul/brute shield, 1 with grenadier gauntlet and slab shield). They have been assembled, ready for a bit of sculpting... then I'll be adding armour, shields and a bit of extra equipment before they are ready for painting .

Yes... I should be doing other things but I just fancied a bit of a change .

Here's a reminder of what some of the OLD boys look like :

Where are the Ogryns from Inso?

Oh and there is nothing wrong with the old boys. I would give them a home in my Army.

The Ogryns are these ones:

https://elementgames.co.uk/games-workshop/warhammer-40k/necromunda/gangs/jotunn-h-grade-servitor-ogryns

I have used some bits and bobs from the WH40k Bullgryn box and a pair of legs from the Ambot box (you get two pairs of spare legs in each box!):

https://elementgames.co.uk/games-workshop/warhammer-40k/necromunda/gangs/necromunda-ambot-automata

I love the old boys too... once I've finished the "new army", I'll be going straight back to the Old boys ... another 200+ miniatures to paint (with a little bit of sculpting in between... plus nine Chimeras to scratchbuild )!

Another update on the Comms troopers. Unfortunately, the resin caster has been taken sick so I have found some of my resin copies and will be sending them to Chris for metal casting. They'll be posted tomorrow so it shouldn't be too long before they turn up in the shop (I'll steer him towards the shop, rather than the kickstarter route).

I've been struggling with sculpting for a while but seem to be getting back on track again. I recently finished this group for a gaming club:

... and that has spurred me on to sculpt other bits and bobs so there should be more "Squat" updates quite soon .

I'm not sure whether you are familiar with the "Frothers Unite UK" forum but it was a very special place where some very "inventive" gaming content/discussion happened. The forum isn't around in a useable fashion any more and has moved to Facebook but they still have club activities... one of which is putting together a bunch of gaming tables for Salute at Excel, London, every year. This year it's about children's shows but with a twist... hence a bunch of Tellytubbies were needed. Last year it was a game where tractors were towing away Russian tanks... but the tractors were driven by celebrities. I provided a Paddington and Leeloo for two of the drivers... and in one of their other games they needed a politician in the form of Gollum so I did that as well . The games are "turn up an play" games and generally do very well .

On to other news... Chris now has resin copies of the comms troopers and will hopefully be getting them cast up very soon .

Always cool to see retro style Squats, scratches an old magazine itch for me.

Those Ogryns are going to be awesome!

Teletubbies... whaaat? lol

Shame about Warseer closing down, albeit I have not visited Warseer since it gave my Computer a Rootkit [via an ad] some... 12 years ago or more? Literal window between my antivirus being run out and looking at getting a different one. I visited Warseer EVERYDAY. I'm going to go look for it now.

My favorite forums of yesteryear... ah, for another thread perhaps?

@ RedSarge - I've lost a few forums over the years... but I guess it's a sign of the times and mostly Facebook. It's a shame though :( .

@ Colonel Jacka - Chris is casting some masters this week so the comms troopers should be available VERY soon .

It's been a while... a bit of sculpting for other people has interrupted things... but here's a WIP for an Astropath:

All that needs to be finished is his staff/stave. Once this one is cast up, it will enable all of the advisors to join the army (advisors are now taken as a unit of Artillery/Airforce/Astropath models instead of being taken separately).

Then it's four servitors and that's it for the army ...

Oh nice! 2020's Rob Halford joined the Squats!

But in all seriousness, that is a great sculpt with the perfect balance of detail and nostalgia. I envy your skills.

Cheers . This was a sculpt that changed theme during the process... he was originally going to be a clean-cut ancestor type... instead, he went a bit feral .
