Hi guys, i thought up this death star unit, any advice on it? comments/critiques. thx

Chapter Master Dante

5xthss terminators

sanguinary priest in terminator armour

idk if this can even be called a death star unit because its only 535 points, it could be made bigger by adding more termies and a chaplain, but i dont see the need, your going to take out any single squad in closecombat in one phase anyways unless your really bad at rolling dice, i think they have enough survivability with the termies and fnp to survive the turn of shooting that follows them deep striking with no scatter straight into the enemy back field and will atleast distract the enemy for the rest of my army to move up, keep in mind that at the same turn their will be 2 vendettas filled with veteran ig allies arriving on the same turn. thanks

Swap the TH/SS terminators, sang priest, and dante for Death Company and a Chaplain.

That's a BA Deathstar.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Dante's no scatter only works if the whole units has jumppacks.

Coyote81 is correct.

I usually go with Dante, a full assault squad with 2 meltaguns, a Jp Libby with shield and blood lance for cover saves in the open, and a Jp priest.
Hop in, assassinate a vehicle, and have enough meat with you to weather a turn in the open. (Supported by placing them somewhere where the entire enemy army can't shoot at you on that round.)

Dante adds nothing to this death star. Now a Libby in terminator armor........

Dante can be a decent contributor to a "death star" type of unit, but it's more for his Hit and Run than anything else. Because of his decent mobility (or his scatter free deep strike to get him and his unit near the Terminators if you decide to DS the Termies) he doesn't need to be DEPLOYED with a unit of terminators...he can always just join them the turn they're planning to assault. Giving Hit and Run to those terminators grants an extra movement option to an otherwise slower moving unit and can be a nightmare for an opponent hoping to just bog down the termies who normally can't sweeping advance.

Hit and Run is also great for Death Company, who are much better on the charge than the other way around.

Ya but for the price of Dante + 5 SS/TH Termies you could just have 10 SS/TH termies. I know which one I'd be more afraid of, and he only affects scatter with jump packs.

Yeah...I know he doesn't give scatter free DS to the termies. I said he didn't need to be deployed with the termies to help them on the turn they assault...the scatter free comment was only pointing out he could himself deep strike whatever unit he's with near the termies so he could join them the following turn. All of that was implied, so I guess I could have been clearer...(hey...there IS an edit button for things like this!)

Either way, you're point is solid and everyone knows that Dante is overcosted in comparison to most HQs these days. I was just pointing out that if you're playing Dante, he has his uses...Hit and Run being one of them.

Well you got to relise in the digital warlords download from black library, they 1) dropped his point cost, and 2) removed hit and run and the no scatter deepstrike from him. So, dante really doesnt do anything to the deathstar. I would do for allied in Iron hands chapter master.

I didn't purchase that, but followed a few threads that ended with people saying the dataslate was eventually updated to share the same info, including the point cost, as the Blood Angels codex. Bummer, as 165 would have been more in line with where he should be. Maybe a glimpse of what's to come...

My mistake. I should have read your post more closely. I see what you were going for now. That's a neat trick I've never really thought of. The sad thing is I really want both Dante and the Sanguinary guard to be good cause I love the models and fluff.

That is ridiculous. I can't believe that an error that big didn't get found before they released it.

So the digital download now includes the exact same information as the codex?

165 for Dante?

Isn't he like the oldest marine alive? (Bjorn notwithstanding)

In a game where age reflects skill, you'd think he'd be closer to the 225-250 mark with some more abilities.

Here's a decent deathstar with Danta - take Sanguinary guard, a priest, and Danta, and 2x infernus pistols. With Dante's no scatter, you can melta something in the rear with 3x melta every time. Use Danta to tank wounds and look out sir the nasty stuff.

I've got a dante + guard squad. I made it because I liked the models and I can just toss them in as an ally to my IG. I didn't think about sticking a priest with them.
