Happy 2014 to everybody! I hope the year brings you good health, happiness and wealth.

Today I sat down and photographed the entirety of my Brazen Guard battle company. This felt really good - they were a project I wanted to complete for 2013 and I managed it!

All of the scouting forces for my battle company. I have included a Pig Iron system trooper and slightly converted Eversor Assassin into the mix so that they could theoretically see some games in some form.

Three squads of Tactical Space Marines comprising the backbone of my Brazen Guard forces. My battle company is short 3 squads of Tactical infantry, but they have 15 Scouts so I like to think that this force is suffering from natural attrition and is in the process of reestablishing itself.

Devastator Space Marines provide heavy weapon support and anti tank capability.

Assault Marines

The elite command cadre of my Brazen Guard, including two Chaplains to lead the company and my veteran combat squad. I am very pleased with how the veterans finally came out - I removed the back banners as they didn't fit into my perception of what the Brazen Guard look like in battle.

Hope you guys like them!

These look great! I really like the red, especially in the command/elite squad.

Vehicles?

Wondering the same thing, would love to see the scheme on tanks!

Look very Minotaury to me - Minotaurs have some amazing FW models, not tempted?

Great work, the conversions and nice and dynamic and really add character to the force. The painting too is very nice.

I like the use of the Heavy troopers as scouts, I may look into that.

Super cool marines, congrats for getting them done.

Any tips for applying metallic paints? Mine never look that smooth.

Really glad you like the red, it was my favourite bit too! I needed a strong, vibrant counter to the metallics.

Regarding vehicles - I don't have much storage spaceso currently no vehicles I'm afraid! Going forward I would like 2 dreads in the same livery, but most other vehicles would actually be grey trimmed with red. The shining metallic hues are strictly for the Marines in my fluff

Tempting but a wee bit too pricey, sir. Also, I have a grudge against the Minotaurs for relaunching themselves with their current colour scheme. Now it looks like I copied them!

Thanks, chief, nice seeing you again

So glad you like! There are a bunch of Pig Iron heads scattered throughout the scouts, I highly recommend them too.

Thanks for the kind words!

  • White undercoat

  • Boltgun Metal basecoat

  • 2 coats of Gryphonne Sepia

  • 1 coat of Devlan Mud

  • A faint, watered down overbrush of boltgun to pick out the highlights

  • Hope that helps you, let me know of any results

    Thanks again everyone

I second the thumbs up on the paint scheme. Subtle and very tidy. Also, consider the boltgun method blatently stollen for the future.

You're a scholar and a gentlemen, I really appreciate all the positive feedback. Yes, I really came to enjoy the paintscheme too, probably why I managed to get so much of them done!
    And steal away

Thank you! Weeell, an army's never really done but still! I want to add a unit of wardroids ala Rogue Trader days, plus maybe 2 dreadnoughts once I get a bigger house! Yes, I went there.. Oh yes, and I will add the commander etc to this page once I get them done.

I put the finishing touches to a small squad of old school Terminators today - they were actually the first squad I painted but I always seemed to find one more bit that I'd missed - bloomin' purity seals

Finally laid down the sealing coat of varnish, and wanted to post them to this thread so they can join their Brazen Guard brethren in the limelight
Very happy knowing all the infantry have been done - just have their commander and an Apothecary to do before the current stuff is all done and dusted

    Thanks for looking, gang!

They look great! Reminds me of when I first found out about 40K, especially the guy without a helmet.

Thank you! Yes, there's alot of nostalgia for me with these models - the bare headed NCO is a favourite of mine for that very reason

I still remember getting one of the original Womble Marines from a friend for 10p at primary school...

Considering how nice your own work is, I take this as very flattering praise indeed. Thank you, sir
