Would it be ludicrous from a fluff perspective for a 40k-era chapter of Space Marines to have a sizable stockpile of heresy-era volkite weapons?

I love the look of the volkite caliver (I'd use these as bolters) and volkite charger (I'd use these as storm bolters/bases for combi-bolters) models and I've been trying to nail down a "fancy bolter" model for my marines for a few years. Obviously, crunch-wise, they'd be bolt weapons, and I'd justify that power reduction fluff-wise with a line or two about retrofitting xenos power sources or something.

Is my fantasy of laser beam marines too silly?

As long as you are consistent with the weapon models in terms of counts-As, go for it. Weapon swaps are a common thing to do.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Alright, I'll do it! I'm ordering 10 volkite calivers from Forge World. Someday I'll actually have some free time for hobbies and I'll post some images of the models.

Go for it, man. Space Marines are obsessed with ancient crap and are willing to put thousands of man hours into preserving something that's no better than modern technology. I know my Blood Ravens first army will have a crap ton of horus heresy junk in it.
