Afternoon folks.

It's been years since I've posted anything painting wise on any forums but I've finally settled on a new project and with FW starting to release some models I decided it was time to dive right into an army I've wanted to do for ages - Night Lords.

I particularly like the Night Lords pre Heresy, The idea that while the Wolves were there to be executioners the Eighth were sent in when an example had to be made. I'm aiming for my guys to by from the time just after Curze was found, still horrible and nasty but before they lost themselves to their own lusts and wants.

Sadly there's none playing 30K rules near me that I know so it's just regular 40k. For the pre Heresy list I'm using the Raven Guard rules from the regular marine dex as I feel it has lots of possibilities for conversion and counts as to represent a pre Heresy era army compared to the chaos dex.

Anyway, enough chit chat. Pictures of things so far.

1st Hunter squad.

Painted this squad up as a tester so not pushed the boat out with them so far. Now I'm happy with green stuffing flayed skin I'll come back to them and pimp them up. Also need to practice the terror marking on the helms before they go onto these guys.





I've not come up with a name for this guy yet but I've given him the title of "Butcher" he's a Shrike counts as for my army.

Good use of Seth's body. Took me a minute to figure out what it was. Are the two dudes in the second pic from the FW kit?

Butcher is probably one of the meanest minis I've ever seen - his stance just oozes menace, and the paint and conversion work are excellent on him. Where are the swords from?

Your thread title makes me wonder just how much hate an enemy had to generate before a crusade commander finally muttered "Send the Eighth." It's quite a horrific thing to order, since it's impossible to work alongside those guys and not see how carried away they get with their work.

I'm liking the guy on the far right of the WIP squad. Is that supposed to be Sevatar?

Nah, thats no Sev. That unit is going to be an honour guard for the guy above. Chain glaives were fairly common amongst the Night Lords so I'm counting it as a relic blade.

Definitely watching this one. Just ordered some Legion Tactical Marines(MK lll), Night Lord Pads, and Night Raptors from FW.

As far as now 30k people, why not play against 40k? Not a big difference just 30k options are more expensive. It's not a big coincidence Primarchs are in the Lord of War category and that got added with Escalation...

The conversions and the paintjobs are just outstanding. Looking forward to seeing those guys painted up.
