This is just a quick question among players who use SM armies:

Given that model representation is up to the player in many cases, would it be in poor artistic taste to use the Legion MKIII armor in a Space Marine Command Squad?

Yes I understand it's short, but I wonder if anyone else has done this or something similar.

I see no reason not to use mkIII armour in a command squad. Command squads are made up veterans are they not? Old venerable sets of armour are more likely to be worn by veterans. It makes more sense for it to be in a command squad then almost anywhere else.

Agreed. An entire squad of Mark 3 armour might be stretching believability a little (unless your whole army is set during the Great Crusade), but a few random ancient armour marks amongst veterans makes perfect sense.

There are lots of chapters that have big stocks of the older marks of armour. That particular mark is also doled out to specialist squads for tunnel fighting and similar 1-dimensional combat situations, so you can easily justify the use of Mk3 all over the place.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
